Katie bradt led with 12 points and 12 rebounds, said her team is finally starting to “click.” “Winning is a team thing,” bradt said. “i think we’ve finally got to the point where the team works together as a whole.” The two teams kept within a point of each other for the opening 4 1/2 minutes until senior elli Nirschl hit a 3-pointer to put the bucks ahead 11-7. bradt added a bucket to keep Pendleton in control before the bucks sprinted out to a 21-11 lead by the end of the quarter. “you could call it a slow start, but it picked up,” said coach Kevin Porter. “We definitely changed our tempo going forward.” Lions junior madison Holm scored a field goal and five points at the line to bring St. Helens within three points of Pendle- ton in the second quarter, but bradt soon got back to work. The Bucks scored five more points and kept the the pressure up in the sec- ond quarter, which ended with Pendleton ahead 32-21. Holm recorded four Honors keep rolling in for Bucks football By ANNIE FOWLER East Oregonian The postseason acco- lades keep rolling in for the Pendleton football team. Thursday, 11 bucks were named to the Orego- nian’s 5a all-State Foot- ball Team, which is voted on by coaches throughout the state. Four seniors — running back aiden Patterson, cen- ter everett Willard, defen- sive lineman beau Skinner and linebacker Kirk Liscom — were named to the first team. “We did really well,” said Pendleton coach erik davis, who is one of four finalists for the 5A coach of the year. “it’s an honor to be recognized from the east side of the state. it’s voted on by the coaches, and that makes the legitimacy that much greater.” Davis said it is the first time since 2009 that the bucks have had a player chosen to the first team (running back Jacob rick- man). before that, it was running back adam Haw- kins in 1995. “To have one is good, to have four is pretty special,” davis said. Patterson, who ran for 1,100 yards and 18 touch- downs for the bucks, is one of four finalists for the 5A offensive player of the year. also on the list are Wilsonville quarterback Nathan Overholt, eagle Point wide receiver Noah Page, and Thurston running back Wesley Kommer. The player and coaches awards will be announced monday, according to the Oregonian. earning second-team all-state honors for the bucks were seniors blake davis (wide receiver), cetch Kelly (offensive line) and ian bannister (defen- sive back). She is shooting 69.6 per- cent from the floor, and leads the Storm in scoring. She also leads her team in rebounds with 8.6 per game (12th in the NWac), and minutes played at 28.4. mcGlothan has a sea- son-high 28 points against mt. Hood on Nov. 17, and had 21 points and a sea- son-high 12 rebounds dec. 15 against Highline. The Storm (3-5 overall) will host Tacoma on dec. 28. Alyia Munoz (Irrigon) is averaging 7.9 points and 5.3 rebounds a game for blue mountain com- munity college. a 5-foot-7 freshman guard, munoz has started all eight games for bmcc. She scored a season-high 15 points against Portland on Nov. 30. She also had 12 points Nov. 18 against Pierce.
