The latest chapter came Sunday when Earl Thomas broke his leg in a 20-17 win. Seattle’s star free safety fractured the tibia in his left leg in a collision with Ari- zona wide receiver Chad Williams with 9 minutes to play. It’s nearly an identi- cal injury to the one Thomas suffered in 2016 when he collided with teammate Kam Chancellor in a game against the Caro- lina Panthers. The stadium in Glendale, Arizona, has turned into a house of horrible memories for the Seahawks, and the Super Bowl loss to New England is Thomas just one of the mis- erable moments for Seattle. Former running back Marshawn Lynch extended a middle finger to the Sea- hawks sideline in Arizona in 2013 to express his displea- sure with offensive coordina- tor Darrell Bevell’s play-call- ing. There was the unsightly 6-6 tie during the 2016 sea- son. And there was Malcolm But- ler’s interception of Russell Wilson at the goal line to deny Seattle’s sec- ond straight Lom- bardi Trophy. In addition to Thomas’ injury, Chancellor and Richard Sherman each saw their tenure with the Sea- hawks end due to injuries suffered in a game in Arizona last November. Chancellor suffered a neck injury that has kept him from continu- ing his career while Sherman tore his Achilles tendon and was released this offseason.
