January 13, 1930 - November 25, 2017 Fossil March 29, 1950 - July 4, 2018 11:01 a.m. - A caller asked the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office to check on a woman living on Northwest Union Avenue, Heppner, because she has not answered her phone since Thursday. A deputy found the woman was fine but her phone was having problems. 11:34 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about a large dog with no tag that chases people and tries to bite cyclists on Southeast Idaho Avenue, Irrigon. A deputy found the owner and gave him until July 20 to get licenses for all of his dogs and said more complaints could result in a citation. 12:06 p.m. - On Southwest Shea Drive, Hermiston, a caller said he was woken up by his dog going crazy. He went outside and found his garage door open with a teenage boy standing there. The caller said the boy said he was dizzy and didn’t know where he was. He said he took the boy outside and told him to wait a minute, and when he returned the boy was gone. He said nothing seemed to be missing from the garage. 2:18 p.m. - Two drivers in a road rage incident that started in Idaho were cited near Rufus, after driving recklessly and nearly causing a traffic crash. One of the drivers had a 10-year-old boy in the car with him. 4:32 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and local paramedics responded to the county’s off-highway vehicle park on Forest Service Road 21 near Heppner for a woman suffering a possible heart attack. An ambulance took the woman to Pioneer Memorial Hospital, Heppner. 8:33 p.m. - An Ione caller reported three children came to her house and stated their father was beating their mother. 11:35 p.m. - A man reported the theft of a bag full of checks and money from his vehicle in Heppner. 11:41 p.m. - Someone fired six rounds in the Wilson Road Mobile Home Park, 600 Wilson Road S,.W., Boardman, a caller reported. 11:41 p.m. - A male subject was just assaulted on Southwest Eighth Street and West Pheasant Lane. 11:44 p.m. - An armed subject left a party in a car on East Main Street, Hermiston. SATURDAY 1:38 a.m. - A caller reported shots fired at Motel 6 on Southeast Nye Avenue, Pendleton. 1:52 a.m. - A caller reported shots fired at Daytona Lane, Hermiston. 8:52 a.m. - A cow was hit on Despain Gulch and Bissinger roads east of Stanfield. 3:35 p.m. - A woman at Walmart on Southwest Court Avenue was driving drunk, and was driving on the wrong side of the road. SUNDAY 9:18 a.m. - An Irrigon resident on Southwest Second Street, called the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office to complain her neighbor’s black Labrador/pit bull mix dog was in her yard and growling at her. A sheriff’s deputy responded and told the neighbor they would be cited next time the dog was loose. 12:14 p.m. - A resident of Pole Line Road, Boardman, reported an attempted burglary at a shop on the property. A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy was requested to perform extra patrols in the area. 1:48 p.m. - A man whose vehicle broke down on Western Route Road and walked “a long ways” before he was given a ride contacted a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy at Dee Cox Road and Highway 74, Heppner, to report that his feet were blistered from his trek and he needed assistance to recover his vehicle. He was given a courtesy ride to Stanfield. 4:00 p.m. — A drunk man was driving his vehicle in the middle of the road at Tabor and East Walls roads, Hermiston. He was cited and released. 6:00 p.m. - A report of a cut fence and people going around the gate into the Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge on the east end of Columbia Avenue in Boardman prompted a request for extra sheriff’s patrols in the area. 6:42 p.m. — A man in Umatilla was choking and slamming a woman’s head into the ground. The incident was witnessed by five people. The suspect was arrested and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail. 10:09 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office responded to Knights Inn and Village Restaurant, 100 First St. N.W., Boardman, after a man texted his girlfriend that he was in danger at the restaurant. A sheriff’s deputy contacted both parties, but there was no indication of a problem. 11:08 p.m. - A man called the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office to report a woman was running down Interstate 84 near milepost 192 and he was unsure whether she was wearing clothing. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Wednesday •Pendleton police arrested Judy L. Castillo, 50, of Pendleton for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Thursday •Pendleton police arrested Ryan W. Robbins, 26, of Pendleton for DUII. Friday •Morrow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Amy Danielle Robinson, 43, of Heppner for eight counts of second-degree theft, one count of first-degree forgery and eight counts of identity theft. •Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacob Ryan Cunningham, 28, of Adams, for first-degree burglary, first-degree theft, first-degree trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. Cunningham was free on a conditional release stemming from his case in Umatilla County Circuit Court for third-degree assault of a girl no older than 10. Third-degree assault is a class C felony in Oregon, according to the state statute, and applies when someone at least 18 “intentionally or knowingly causes physical injury to a child 10 years of age or younger.” Court records show his next hearing in that case is Aug. 29. •Pendleton police arrested Adam Ashley Amon, 36, of Pendleton, for violating parole, assault of a public safety officer, interfering with a peace officer, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct and second-degree trespass. Saturday •Pendleton police arrested Andrew Dean Kindness, 30, of Pendleton, for second-degree attempted assault and second-degree criminal mischief. •Hermiston police arrested April Mae Bautista, 40, of Stanfield, for possession of methamphetamine and violating probation. •Pendleton police arrested Curtis A. Sampson, 23, of Pendleton, for DUII. Sunday •Pendleton police arrested Amado Elias Rosas Zamudio, 24; Kanim Ezekiel Moses Conner, 28; and Tessa VanEpps, 26, all of Pendleton, for DUII. Moses Conner also was charged with reckless driving and felony attempt to flee. Florence M. Stewart, 87, passed away Novem- ber 25, 2017, in Vancouver, Washington. Florence was born in Artesia, Califor- nia, on January 13, 1930, to Clair and Princess Olson. The family sur- vived the major earthquake in Long Beach, California, in March 1933 and Florence had a life- long fear of earth- quakes. In 1935 Stewart the family moved to Oregon, eventually set- tling in Sisters, Oregon. Florence was graduated from Columbia Adventist Academy in Battle Ground, Washington, in 1947 and enrolled at Walla Walla Col- lege in the fall of 1948. Flor- ence married Sydney E. Stewart on August 28, 1949, in Sisters, Oregon. After Sydney graduated from col- lege, they lived in Oregon and California. During the early years of marriage and while their daughters were young, Flor- ence devoted herself to her family as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. After her daughters started school, Florence worked in school principals’ offices. Sydney and Florence moved to Pendleton, Ore- gon, in 1980 and Florence worked for almost 20 years in the medical office of Dr. Chris Lundquist. After retirement, Sydney and Flor- ence moved to Col- lege Place, Wash- ington. Florence moved to Vancou- ver, Washington, in April 2016. Flor- ence was a mem- ber of the College Place Village Sev- enth-day Adventist Church. Florence is survived by three daughters, Cindy Stewart, Debbie Stewart and Shari (Allan) Thompson; one grandchild, Micheline Thompson; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Sun- day, July 15, at Mount Hope Cemetery in College Place, Washington.
