Week 1 (June 11-15) is “Aloha Summer.” Enjoy the islands during this camp, eat tropi- cal foods and jam to island music at the Luau. Week 2 (July 16-20) is “Maker Fun Factory.” Design, build, create all sorts of cool things to take home. Week 3 (Aug. 13-17) is “Music Mania.” Dif- ferent presenters each day will teach everything from how to play an instru- ment to world music appreciation – be prepared to rock! Monday through Thursday, June 18-Aug. 2 (except July 4), 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Central Middle School. Five weekly sessions; cost: $100 per week. Week of July 4 holiday will be extended to Friday, 7/6. Children from 5 to 12 can participate in different weekly themes, from Outer Space to Zoo. PENDLETON Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp, Pendleton Youth Soccer Asso- ciation. Monday to Friday, June 18-22 at Grecian Heights Park North. Full day camp for ages 8 through 14 meets from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; cost: $196. Half-day camp meets from 9 a.m. to noon; cost $150 for ages 5 through 14. CCT Summer Youth Theatre Camp, Monday to Saturday, July 16-21, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; rehearsals on week- days and final performances on Satur- day in the Bob Clapp Theatre at Blue Mountain Community College. College Community Theatre offers kids, from 7 through 18, a unique performing arts experience, including rehearsals, the- atre games, and specialty workshops led by Portland-based theatre artists. Participants will prepare and stage an original night of perfor- mance pieces. No ex- perience or auditions required. The camp is open all area youth; cost: $75 per child. Adventure Camps, Pendleton Parks & Rec., Monday to Thursday, June 18 to July 26, six sessions (no camp on July 4 the week of 7/2-5/18 will have a reduced cost of $17), 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bust the boredom with day camp for youth entering grades 2 to 6 this fall. Camps are offered at Pioneer and Community parks and include lunch and afternoon snacks. Monday and Wednesday mornings include active games, afternoons, a quieter craft and science activi- ties. On Tuesday and Thursdays, campers will either go to the library and gym or spend the afternoon at the Aquatic Center. Cost: $22 per week. Rock and Roll Camp XII, Pendleton Center for the Arts. Monday to Friday, Aug. 13-17, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Teens can rock out for five full days – for free! West Coast indie band musi- cians act as instructors for the camp, which includes a free daily lunch and a camp tee shirt. Musical experi- ence is not required. Some teens put together bands, write original music and record their songs. Others work on rock journalism, putting together a camp zine and generating video for YouTube. Art Camp, Pendle- ton Parks & Rec. Monday to Thursday, July 23-26, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pendleton Founda- tion Room, Rec. Center. Youth ages 8-12 will express their cre- ativity using a variety of art mediums including acrylic paint, chalk, clay, color pencils and more. Extended day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; cost: $455. Standard day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; cost: $355. Cost includes meals, T-shirt and swim cap. Whitman’s head swim coach leads this co-ed camp for youth ages 9 to 18, covering tech- niques for competitive swimming and individual stroke analysis. Overnight options also available.
