Locals graduate from academy SALEM — Eastern Oregon officers graduated in February from the Oregon Public Safety Academy, Salem. The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training announced Umatilla Tribal Police Department officer Joshua Stedman and Enterprise Police Department officer Cody M. Billman were among the 37 who graduated Feb. 16 after completing the 16-week basic police course. Their education included training on survival skills, problem solving and commu- nity policing. The course began with 40 new officers on Oct. 9, 2017. And deputies Charles Hearn and Zane Schnetzky with the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office were among 39 who graduated Feb. 23 from the academy’s basic corrections course.
