RECORDS Friday, December 15, 2017 East Oregonian PUBLIC SAFETY LOG OBITUARIES DEATH NOTICES WEDNESDAY Sandra June ‘Sandy’ Tolleson Rose LaVada Forbes Pendleton September 8, 1945 - December 11, 2017 Hermiston Dec. 11, 2017 7:52 a.m. - An Irrigon mother asked to talk to a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy about a male harassing her daughter. The mother said she got the male fired, and the harassment started after that. 9:27 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer received information about harassment at Irrigon High School, Irrigon. 10:01 a.m. - Several people have seen “a large black wolf” in the area of Carlson Lane and Ione Gooseberry Road, about a 40 minute drive south of Ione, a caller reported, and the most recent sighting was Tuesday. The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office referred the report to Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. 11:43 a.m. - The Umatilla County Courthouse, 416 S.E. Fourth St., Pendleton, reported “threat information.” 12:53 p.m. - Pilot Rock police responded to Southwest Birch Street for the possible theft of copper wire. 1:42 p.m. - A man reported he left a vacuum at the cardboard recycling bins on West Harper Road, Hermiston, and asked police if anyone “turned him in for leaving the vacuum.” 3:34 p.m. - A resident at Marina Apartments, Umatilla, told police she just caught her neighbors going through her mail. 8:11 p.m. - A resident on Montana Lane, Irrigon, called 911 to report an intoxicated male was pounding on her door. 8:35 p.m. - Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash north of Milton-Freewater. Oregon State Police responded to the wreck on the northbound side of Highway 11 near milepost 33, and found a Volkswagen Passat and a Ford F150 pickup each sustained more than $1,500 in damage. The three occupants had minor injuries, according to state police, and all refused ambulance rides to hospitals. The trooper found “conflicting statements regarding what occurred” and cited one driver for driving while suspended and driving uninsured, but the crash investigation continues. 9:27 p.m. - Umatilla police received a report of a drunk driver who tried to buy beer at Pik A Pop, the convenience store at 1010 Sixth St. Employees refused to sell him the beer, and the man “took off heading eastbound.” ARRESTS, CITATIONS Monday •Milton-Freewater police arrested Francisco Torres Velazquez, 40, no address provided, for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Wednesday •Pendleton police arrested James Michael Hutchins Jr., 39, of 821 N.W. Eighth St., Pendleton, for a probation violation and felony possession of methamphetamine. •Hermiston police arrested Julian Madrigal Mendoza, 38, of 405 S.W. 11th St., Apt. 53, Hermiston, for felony possession of methamphetamine and on warrants for failure to appear. Sandra (Sandy) June Tolleson Rose passed away on December 11, 2017, following months of fragile health and surgery for a broken hip suffered in a fall. Sandy was born to Bill and Audrey Tolleson on September 8, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama. She moved with her family to Eastern Oregon when she was 6 years old and later graduated from Ukiah High School in 1963. Horses, fishing, travel and the love of a gypsy life found Sandy living Rose all over Oregon and other places such as Hawaii, Colorado and Wyoming. During these adventures she found many friends and had loved many people. Through this love Sandy had three children: Eric Carlos of Athena, Oregon, Lechell Carlos of Pendleton, Oregon, and Les Kannier of Pendleton, Oregon. By trade Sandy mostly focused on being a talented barber and a no-nonsense bartender. Her quick wit and tough persona were very helpful in these careers over the years. Sandy traveled light and lived for the moment. Her stories could fill a book, she followed her own path, and now, she can finally rest. She was loved and will be missed. She is survived by her sister Charlotte Symons of Terrebonne, Oregon; her three children; seven grandchildren; and six great-grand- children. At Sandy’s request, there will be no service. Friends who wish to honor her memory may donate to Burns Mortuary or a charity of choice. A special thanks to those who were there for Sandy during her end of life journey. You are a blessing. In closing, a quote from an author I do not recall, but surely a mantra Sandra June lived by: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thor- oughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’” COMING EVENTS Page 5A LaVada Forbes, 83, of Hermiston died Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, in Hermiston. Services are pending at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston. Carolyn Rostock Kennewick, Wash.
