BRIEFLY HERMISTON — A Eugene man was arrested for pointing a gun at an employee at the Gotta Stop gas station on West Highland Avenue Wednesday afternoon. According to Hermiston police, Andrew Smith was in the store and got agitated because the service was slow. After becoming belligerent, Smith was asked to leave. The store manager, Misty Radcliffe, went outside to ask Smith not to come back, and Smith drew a handgun from the center console of his vehicle, pointing the barrel upward. When Radcliffe went to the back of the vehicle to get his license plate number, she said Smith got out of the vehicle and pointed the gun at her. Smith left the area and Radcliffe called the Herm- iston Police Department. Smith was arrested at the Boardman Rest Area, and stated that he showed the gun to Radcliffe but did not point it at her. He was taken to the Umatilla County Jail.
