RECORDS Wednesday, September 20, 2017 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG East Oregonian OBITUARIES MONDAY 7:05 a.m. - Milton-Freewater police received a report of someone breaking into a vehicle and stealing items on the 100 block of Sykes Boulevard. 9:19 a.m. - A Heppner resident on East Fairview Way asked the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office for a cat trap after a male cat that was hanging around her place bit her. She also said she called the county health department first, which suggested she call the sheriff’s office. 9:47 a.m. - A Hermiston man asked to speak to police about fraud on a vehicle he purchased. 10:10 a.m. - Umatilla police served a restraining order on a person at Two Rivers Correctional Institution, Umatilla. 10:27 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a vehicle theft that occurred at Stateline Road and Highway 11, Milton-Freewater. 10:47 a.m. - A Boardman man told the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office he made a mistake with an online trade and sent a man the wrong item, and now the man is threatening him. The caller said he is trying to straighten out the problem and wanted law enforcement aware of the situation. 12:26 p.m. - The Boardman ambulance responded to the office of Threemile Canyon Farms, 75906 Threemile Road, Boardman, for a woman who suffered a broken leg and cuts to her face in an accident. The ambulance took her to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston. 3:54 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report from Northwest Samantha Street of a white man in black shorts and a green T-shirt walking with a compound bow in his hand. 4:06 p.m. - A caller on the 100 block of South Main Street, Milton-Freewater, told police someone keyed their vehicle. 5:32 p.m. - A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy asked other agencies to check on the welfare of five children who have not been in school and could be with their parents camping at the remote Divide Well Campground in the Umatilla National Forest. Nancy Lynn (James) Briggs Nampa, Idaho April 24,1955 - September 14, 2017 Nancy was born April 24, 1955, in La Grande, Oregon, to Byron and Bonnie James. She died September 14, 2017, in Nampa, Idaho. She loved spending time with her husband and best friend of 38 years, Mike Briggs. She loved bowling and had just became president of her women’s league. She also enjoyed her beautiful flowers, watching hummingbirds, playing cards and Briggs of course her three dogs (fur babies). Nancy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Mike Briggs; her stepdad Earl Langley; children Linn Edwards, Julie Edwards-Arellano and Crystal (Briggs) Flanagan and spouse Sean Flanagan; siblings Sherrie James-McArthur, Joe James, Jerry James and Billy James; stepsister Tammy Allen and foster sister Matillda Pierre; eight grand- children and two great-grandchil- dren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. December 4, 1947 - September 17, 2017 Monty Rex Hixson passed away in the early hours of Sunday, September 17, 2017, after a long battle with kidney cancer. He was born on December 4, 1947, to George Rex Hixson and Evelyn Prue (Meyers) Hixson in La Junta, Colorado. After grad- uating high school in 1966 at Crowley County High School, he attended college at Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo. In 1968 he moved to Long Creek, Oregon, with his parents and younger brother Bret. Pendleton, Oregon, became his home in the mid-1970s and is where he met his current wife Jeannine (Soule) Hixson. Together Monty and Jeannine created a small family business, Hixson Construction. In the early years, Hixson Construc- tion operated as a logging company that also specialized in road building and excava- tion. In 1996 Hixson Construction broke into the renewable energy industry by performing the road building, foundation excavation and Linda C. McRae Pasco, Wash. Junge 28, 1936 - September 17, 2017 Hermiston May 10, 1949 - September 16, 2017 Our beloved mother and grandmother Bertha Gomez passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017, at age 81 to join our heavenly father. A longtime resident of Hermiston, Ore., of 44 years, Bertha recently moved to Pasco, Wash., at the time of her depar- ture. Mother spent quality time raising her family and that dominated most of her time. Bertha is survived by seven of her eight chil- dren: Gloria, Frank (Jr.), Johanna, Victor, Orlando, Gomez Priscilla and Eliz- abeth (Lisa). Preceded in death by her husband Frank who passed on September 17, 2013, and her eldest son Rene who passed in 1976. Bertha has 15 wonderful grandchildren and 10 amazing great-grandchildren. Bertha enjoyed life to the fullest; she loved playing Bingo and socializing with family and friends. Bertha especially enjoyed spending time with her family talking around the kitchen table at every opportunity that was provided. She had the ability, as mothers do, to sense if everything was good. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She lived a full and happy life, and will be missed very much by all that knew her! God bless you, Mother. She passed away on September 16, 2017, in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 68 years. Linda was raised in Irrigon, Oregon, and graduated from Riverside High School in Boardman, Oregon, in 1967. She attended Blue Mountain Commu- nity College, taking business class for two years. Linda was united in marriage McRae to James Robert “Bob” McRae on September 7, 1968, in Irrigon, Oregon. They lived in Corvallis, Ore., Concrete, Wash., Superior, Mont., and again in Corvallis before settling in Eureka, California, for 30 years. She was a graphic designer at Humboldt State University in Native American Studies for many years. They moved to Hermiston, Oregon, in 2007 where they have lived since. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bowling, her dogs and traveling. Linda was a loving wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend who thrived on taking care of everyone. Their daughter, Kathryn, also joined the company after completing her college education and worked alongside Monty in several wind industry projects. Monty is survived by his mother, Evelyn Hixson, who currently resides in Pend- leton, Oregon, as well as his brother, Bret Hixson, who is a veterinarian in Corvallis, Oregon. Both Jeannine and Kathryn Hixson reside in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Monty spent much of the last few years of his life enjoying the Arizona sunshine. Monty is also survived by daughter Tina Simmons from a previous marriage, as well as many kind and generous friends that treated him like family.
