12:12 p.m. - Kind Leaf, 1733 S.W. Court Ave., Pendleton,
reported the theft of merchandise sometime the previous day.
1:52 p.m. - A resident of North Broad Street, Weston,
reported a theft to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office.
2:35 p.m. - A Umatilla man told Umatilla police he is out of
town but was informed his car is no longer parked at his parents’
house on Fifth Street. He requested contact from an officer.
4:12 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater man reported his motorcycle
was pushed over in the first block of Northeast Seventh Avenue,
causing minor damage.
5:56 p.m. - Pendleton police received a report of someone
calling for help on Southeast 10th Street, but could find no one
needing assistance.
7:49 p.m. - A resident of North Ott Road, Hermiston, told the
Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office she thinks someone is in her
yard. Deputies couldn’t find an intruder.
11:21 p.m. - Umatilla police investigated a theft on Columbia
Boulevard.
11:24 p.m. - Menacing was reported at South Highway 395,
Hermiston.

Russell Charles “Russ” Green, 73, of Milton-Freewater
died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, in Walla Walla. He was born
Jan. 5, 1944. A memorial service will be held Saturday,
Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in
Milton-Freewater. Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.

Lucille “Lucy” Harris, 64, of Stanfield died Wednesday,
Sept. 6, 2017, at her home. She was born Feb. 10, 1953, in

ARRESTS, CITATIONS
•An Oregon State Police trooper spotted a GMC Sierra
parked at the defunct Rodeo City Inn on Barnhart Road outside
Pendleton, and a license plate check indicated the vehicle had
been reported stolen. A man was asleep in the vehicle when the
trooper approached. Michael Brian Oliver, 24, of Pendleton and
Lindsey Cheyenne Oliver, 27, of Irrigon were arrested without
incident for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

2017, at his home. He was born Sept. 3, 1950, in Salt Lake

Tilamook County Creamery Association
awards leadership scholarships
TILLAMOOK — In the 15th year of its Excellence in Lead-
ership scholarship program, the Tillamook County Creamery
Association (TCCA) awarded $2,000 scholarships to each of
eight exceptional Oregon students. Local
recipients included two 2017 Heppner
High School graduates and a continuing
college student from Hermiston.
Kolby Currin is the son of Stephen
and Lisanne Currin of Heppner. Kevin
Murray is the son of John and Ann Murray
of Heppner. Both Kolby and Kevin
will attend Blue Mountain Community
College in the fall.
Manuel Santos is the son of Felipe and
Ines Santos of Hermiston. He is a 2013 Murray
graduate of Hermiston High School and
will attend Brigham Young University.
Manuel received TCCA’s scholarship
designated for an employee or child of a
TCCA employee.
TCCA’s scholarship program was
established in 2003 by the Association’s
board of directors. The program created
three scholarships to be awarded to
graduating Tillamook County high school
seniors. In 2005, two additional scholar- Currin
ships were added: one for a graduating
high school senior in Morrow County, the location of Tilla-
mook’s second cheesemaking plant; and one for a continuing
college student who is from Tillamook County. Since then,
additional scholarships have been added to the program, and
a total of $160,000 has been awarded to 80 students, helping
them achieve their educational goals and encouraging them to
be leaders in their community.
Horses will be plentiful during the Main Street Cowboys Dress-Up Parade. Referred
to as the unofficial start of Pendleton Round-Up, the event kicks off Saturday at 10
a.m. in downtown Pendleton.
