Or one that you use, but don’t really understand? Join Bill Peal, Camera Demystifier, to learn easy techniques for getting more out of your camera. He’ll show you everything from how to set the date to how to use macro focus to get beautiful flower photos. Arlen will share his unique approach to painting portraits, using lots of color and making up the composition as you go. Students’ resulting pieces will be fun, loose and expressive portraits or self-portraits. This class will focus on how to express mood and feelings through use of color, exaggeration and distortion. We’ll focus on narrative and symbolism rather than traditional painting techniques, although a certain amount of that will be covered too. Students with all levels of painting experience are welcome to attend. MASTERING THE MOSAIC TAMMY BURNETT, INSTRUCTOR TUESDAYS, 6:00-8:00 PM, SEPT. 26 – OCT. 17 (4 SESSIONS) $55 MEMBERS / $60 NON-MEMBERS + $15 MATERIALS FEE Welcome to the world of glass mosaic: all the beauty of stained glass, minus the fuss of grinding and soldering. In this introductory offering, you’ll learn how to combine scraps of colorful glass into gorgeous images of your own design. Tammy Burnett will share her glass-on-glass technique for laying mosaic onto a framed glass sheet, adhering with a silicone adhesive and grouting to finish off the piece. Most supplies will be provided including stained glass, glass objects, picture frames, glue, safety glasses and rubber coated gloves. Students supply your own glass nippers; Tammy will have them available for $15 on the first night of class. 12 to African drumming arrangements. No music experience is necessary- this class is about discovering the fun of playing rhythm together! Students will be challenged to their individual skill level, and teens 13-18 years old are welcome to join for free! Bring an old sketchbook for warm-ups, but everything else will be provided. We’ll do exercises in basic rhythms, practice reading rhythm grid notation (a simple way to write down beats), and move up pendletonarts.org • 541-278-9201 Learn to make socks, slippers, and/or holiday stockings on a circular needle using the magic loop method. We’ll use basic sock patterns found online and dress them up with color work, stripes, solid colors – the decoration and sock length is up to you! At the first class, Nikii will show examples as well as the pros and cons of each style and then you and your wallet can decide what you want to make over the remainder of the class. Students should be comfortable working in the round and be able to do the knit and purl stitches.
