Adult Classes drop ins HIP & HANDMADE – a FREE drop-in class! EVERY SATURDAY, 11:00AM – NOON Join one of our creative and enthusiastic staff members for this casual, no pressure get-together. We gather around a big table in our craft gallery to work on a different project each week, depending on what has captured our interest. No need to sign up, no tuition, just come on by! KNIT LAB – a drop-in offering 6:00 – 8:00PM on Thursdays Starting Oct. 5 $10 PER SESSION Available for anyone who needs help on a knitting project. Nikii’s ready to assist with questions on how to start or continue a pattern, yarn and needle advice, and inspiration to get moving on those previously shelved projects. Drop in for one evening or come every week! Crocheters welcome too! SPIN IN – a FREE drop-in offering 1:00 – 4:00PM on the First Saturday of the Month October 7, November 4 and December 1 Join the fiber fun gang on the first Saturday of every month here at PCA. Those who spin, knit, crochet or do any creative hand work are welcome. If you just want to learn more about these fiber arts, come on by! We love to do demonstrations, answer questions, or help you with the “darned” knitting problem (pun intended). CONTRA DANCE – a drop-in offering 7:00PM on the First Friday of the Month October 6, November 3, December 1 $8 PER PERSON, $15 PER COUPLE take photos around town, and possibly even drive a little further to one of Bill’s favorite landscape viewpoints, giving students plenty of scenery to experiment with the built-in advantages and limitations of smartphone photography. This class will focus on iPhone applications, but Android users may join if they feel comfortable doing some software translation. Bring your smartphone, and a tripod if you have it- the PCA has five available for students to borrow. Join us for live music, square and contra dancing led by a caller, and lots of fun. No experience necessary! No partner necessary! HYDROPONICS: A BETTER WAY TO GROW YOUR FOOD AT HOME RICHARD BERTRAM, INSTRUCTOR SATURDAY, NOV. 4, 9:00-11:00AM $15 MEMBERS / $20 NON-MEMBERS workshops Hydroponic plant systems yield phenomenal plant growth year-round with no garden or sun required! Grow greens, tomatoes, cantaloupe or figs outside or in; no dirt, no weeds, great results! If you have not been to one of Richard’s hydroponic classes, you’ll immediately feel welcome and fit right in. If you have already been to one of his presentations, you’ll learn things that you haven’t seen before. We’ll consider Kratky Method, Deep Water Culture, Dutch Buckets, and Flood and Drain Systems. After class, we will walk 1/2 a block to view Richard’s multiple systems in use. Students who want to build one of the systems will be provided with a list of parts and suppliers. SMARTPHONE PHOTOGRAPHY BILL PEAL, INSTRUCTOR SATURDAY, OCT. 7, NOON – 4:00PM $30 MEMBERS / $35 NON-MEMBERS Elevate your cell phone pics from snapshots to works of art. We’ll begin at the PCA to discover how to use the hidden features and controls of your smartphone camera- the really helpful ones you wouldn’t stumble across on your own like the grid function or how to create depth of field. We’ll explore some great photo editing apps, too.
