WEST POINT, New York — Cadet Jarred Cope has been
named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester, January
through May, at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point,
New York.
To earn the distinction, a cadet must maintain a 3.0
average in all courses.
The son of Lisa and Darrick Cope of Pendleton, Cope
graduated in 2014 from Griswold High School in Helix.
He will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S.
Army upon graduation from West Point in May 2018.

High in 1943. She
attended Oregon Larson
State College and
graduated in 1947
with a Bachelor of Science
degree. She was a member
of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
Shirley married Bob
Hawkins and they had three
children: Kreg, Tammy and
Terri. Later she married Bob
Larson.
Shirley and her family
were active members of
the Peace Lutheran Church
in Pendleton. She was also
a committed participant in
PEO, the Delphian Club and
