Hermiston police reported officers responded to the Last
Chance Tavern, 240 S.W. 11th St., after witnesses said Mitchell
Wayne Thomas, 28, and Devontea Lamont Wright, 22, both
of Hermiston, assaulted a 41-year-old transient, kicking and
punching the man while he was on the pavement.
“The victim suffered loose teeth and several scrapes,”
according to the report.
Police caught Thomas and Wright and booked them into the
Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, for third-degree assault, a class
C felony in Oregon, and for second-degree disorderly conduct.
Police also arrested Wright on a probation violation warrant.
Thomas has multiple convictions. His most recent in Umatilla
County Circuit Court was in August 2016 when he pleaded
guilty to felon in possession of a firearm. Wright in 2011 took a
deal in a sex crimes case and pleaded guilty to a pair of class C
felonies and received a three-year prison sentence, minus the

Hermiston, driving in the area of Southwest Seventh Street
and West Pine Avenue, and when an officer tried to make a
stop near Southwest Ninth Street and West Orchard Avenue,
the driver took off.
Guzman made it about six blocks before abandoning his
vehicle and fleeing on foot, according to the report. Citizens
in the area helped police find Guzman in the bathrooms at
Victory Square Park, where officers arrested him without further
problems. Police booked Guzman into the Umatilla County
Jail, Pendleton, on several warrants, driving while suspended,
reckless driving and misdemeanor and felony eluding.

Romero is credited with in the proper way. They

“Night of the Living

the Library of Congress
inducted the black-and-white
masterpiece into the National

Romero’s death was
immediately felt across a wide
spectrum of horror fans and
filmmakers. Stephen King,
whose “The Dark Half” was
adapted by Romero, called
him his favorite collaborator
and said, “There will never
be another like you.” Guill-
ermo del Toro called the loss
“enormous.”
