ARRESTS, CITATIONS •A crash in northern Umatilla County led to an arrest for driving drunk. Oregon State Police reported Melissa Ann Johnston, 41, of North Power, was driving a Chevrolet pickup northbound on Highway 37 when she lost control at about 10:50 p.m. near Kosmos Road and rolled the vehicle onto the passenger side. Johnston was intoxicated, according to state police, with “slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes and a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath.” She failed a sobriety test, and the trooper arrested her for driving under the influence of intoxicants. Her blood alcohol level was .14 percent, state police reported, almost twice the .08 percent legal limit. •Pendleton police arrested Brent A. Daum, 42, of Pendleton, for DUII. • Update: Michelle McCallum was among seven people Oregon State Police arrested during New Year’s weekend 2016. A memorial service will be held at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton on July 8, 2017, at 1 p.m. Sign the online condolence at www.burnsmor- tuary.com Born on August 21, 1946, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to James and Mary (Phillips) Myers, Chuck joined two sisters and one brother. His parents were divorced when Chuck was about 10, at which time he began alternating his time between Spring- field, Oregon, Kansas, and New Mexico. He enjoyed fishing on the Schermerhorn River and pinecone hunting with his Myers family. He was always in tune with the outdoors and even had a squirrel come and go from his homestead in Kansas. After attempting to join the Navy at 16 Chuck was sent back to complete high school, graduating in 1965 from Springfield High School. Once he was able to enlist, his 23-year career with the United States Navy took him all over including two tours in Vietnam, serving on multiple ships: YR-71, USS Hoel (DDG- 13) and USS Sacramento (AOE-1) just to name a few. Making the status of chief 12 years into his time with the Navy was a very proud moment for Chuck and his family. He was awarded this honor while crossing the equator. He retired as a senior chief. He met his wife of 47 years in San Francisco at an Acey Duecey club while she was in town visiting her sister. They were married on July 16, 1970, in Redmond, Oregon. They welcomed two sons and the family trav- eled among various duty stations living four years in each location of San Diego, Bremerton and Corpus Christi. They enjoyed camping and fishing together. Chuck had a passion for many different things but wasn’t known to complete all proj- ects he started. He enjoyed working on restoring a 1947 Jeep Willys. He loved old twangy country music, leatherwork and spending time with his family. In 2009 Chuck fell ill to polycystic kidneys — leading to many stays in the hospital along with a kidney transplant. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Gail Menacho. He is survived by his wife, Klynn (Harris) Myers; sisters Carol MacDonald and Jimmie Cole, and brother Nick Myers; children James Myers and Christopher Myers of Pend- leton; grandchildren Baylee, Kaden, Cody and Tiffany; and multiple nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Wounded Warrior. Richard Kenneth Corbin, 80, of Pendleton died Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born July 4, 1936.
