(541-567-6219) Brent Laskey Horn Karen Nelson Applegate Pendleton Nov. 17, 1933 — May 24, 2017 Pendleton January 23, 1940 — June 13, 2017 Brent Laskey Horn was born in Pendleton, OR, on November 17, 1933, to Hilmer and Zylph Horn. He passed away quietly at Suttle Care Retirement home in Pendleton on May 24, 2017. He was 83. His brother Darrell Horn was at his bedside when he passed. Brent was a graduate of Pilot Rock High School where he excelled in athletics. He was a running back on the Rockets two-time state Horn champion six-man football team where he gained the nick name “Crazy Legs” Horn. He graduated from Oregon State College in animal husbandry and then was manager of Beef City cattle feedlot in Hermiston for several years before he started his own feedlot, maxing out at more than 8,000 cattle on feed. He also owned a registered Hereford cattle ranch on Butter Creek where he raised some of the top Hereford bulls, one of which was reserved Grand Champion at the prestigious Denver Exhibition. Brent was voted the top Hereford breeder in the Northwest during this period of his life. He was a director of the Blue Mountain College in Pendleton and was on the Board of Directors of Inland Empire Bank which is now Banner Bank during his prime. After a fall from the bed of a hay truck in 1995 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, which started a long deterioration of his health during the years prior to his death. Brent is survived by his brother, Darrell from Santa Rosa, CA, his three children, Bradford Horn, Brenda Glover and their mother Lola from Hermiston, Brandon Horn and his mother Eileen from Pendleton and six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Brent was preceded in death by his parents from Pilot Rock and a sister, Patti Hampton of Bothel, WA. His ashes will be spread in the foothills of the Blue Mountains near his family’s ranch in Pilot Rock where he grew up. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Tesch, 63, of Umatilla, passed away on Monday, June 12, of compli- cations related to his long battle with cancer. Darcy was born April 4, 1954 in Fort Ord, CA. His family moved several times before settling in Las Vegas, NV where he spent his formative years. He moved to Hermiston in 1976, shortly thereafter meeting his wife of 40 years, Deborah Thueson. They were married on August 13, 1977 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they lived in Umatilla for the majority of those 40 years, raising four wonderful children. Darcy provided well for his family working as a machinist and later as a long-haul truck driver. Darcy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family, boating, waterskiing, riding motorcy- cles, tinkering on projects and traveling.
