Pendleton man arrested after disturbance at reservoir East Oregonian A Memorial Day outing at McKay Reservoir near Pendleton turned violent and led to the arrest of one man. Keenan Carl Aden Wright, 24, of Pendleton, faces a domestic violence charge of strangulation as well as one count of fourth-degree assault and six of menacing. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded Monday afternoon to a disturbance at the reser- voir’s swimming area. They talked to a woman who said she argued with an ex-boy- friend, and he held her under water. People came to her aid, according to the report, and the ex fought with at least one man. The suspect left as deputies arrived, but they found him Tuesday at a residence on the first block of Northeast 12th Street. Deputies arrested Wright and booked him into the Umatilla County Jail, Pend- leton, for fourth-degree assault, menacing, felony strangulation and attempted murder. Circuit court records show Wright on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to initial charges of strangulation, fourth-degree assault and six counts of menacing. The strangulation relates to his ex, and the assault to a man who suffered a minor injury in the fracas. The menacing charges apply to those victims and four more. The district attorney’s office has yet to take the case to grand jury, so more charges could be in the works. Wright’s next court hearing is June 22. He remains in the jail in lieu of $40,000 bail.
