No one was injured, and Drotzmann reported the wreck around 9 a.m. the next morning. According to the report, Drotzmann told officers he was driving westbound on Highland Extension when his vehicle slid in a section where the road turns from gravel back to pavement. Drotzmann said he was driving 40 to 45 miles per hour on the gravel, and that the rear end of his vehicle “got loose” and hit a guard rail. The report states that the guard rail over the north side of the canal bridge was completely removed from its housing, damaging the structure. County public works was notified about the damage. The car was repaired at Ware’s Auto Body, and had an impact spot on the front passen- ger’s side, as well as damage on the side. Drotzmann told the East Oregonian he called his insurance and intended to pay for the damage to public property. According to the report, Drotzmann said he waited until the next morning to report the crash because it was only property damage, and that he was previously at a friend’s house down the road working on a parade float. Drotzmann told the officer he had consumed alcoholic beverages around 4 p.m. that afternoon at Neighbor Dudes Tap House in Hermiston, but said he didn’t have any alcohol at his friend’s house that he had left prior to the accident.
