Richard Matthew Crosby
Pendleton
January 2, 1933-April 22, 2017
Richard Matthew Crosby
was born January 2, 1933, in
Picher, Okla., to Raymond
and Irene Cummings Crosby.
He finished his life on
earth April 22, 2017, after
a relatively short
diagnosis of Alzhei-
mer’s.
After the death
of his mother at
age 4, Richard and
his family moved
to Emmett, Idaho,
where he met and
eventually married
the love of his
life, Norma “Lee”
Emond.
They Crosby
married February
4, 1951, and moved to Pend-
leton, Ore.
In August 1951 Richard
went to work for the Pend-
leton Woolen Mills where
he remained a dedicated
employee until he retired
43 years later. Richard took
early retirement to fulfill a
lifelong dream of being a
full-time minister as one of
Jehovah’s Witnesses. That
was his chosen “career” until
he was forced to stop due to
his declining mental status.
Richard and Lee had
five children, all of whom
consider themselves fortu-
nate to have had him as their
father.
Richard is survived by
his wife, Lee, and children
Penny (Glen Risinger) and
their children Trina, Trent
and Tasha; Thomas (Karlene
Elmendorf Crosby, Andrea
Webb (Bryant Webb) and
their children Brandon,
Bryce, Gwen, Logan and
Piper; Dale and his children
Keri and Kendra; and
Jonathan (Lesley
Baker Crosby) and
their children Kyle
and Brenden. He
is also survived
by 20 great-grand-
children and three
great-great-grand-
children. Richard
is also survived
by two brothers,
Dale Crosby of
Boise, Idaho, and
Raymond Howey
of Salina, Kan., along with
many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded
in death by his parents, and
siblings Dorothy, Margie,
Bill, Jack, Maudie and
Wayne, as well as his great-
grandson Odie and nieces
Beth and Mary Jane Johnson.
Richard was blessed with
a vivid imagination and
sense of humor, his jokes and
puns being one of the things
people remember most about
him. He will be greatly
missed.
The family would like
to thank the staff of Juniper
House for their kind,
thoughtful care of Richard
the last few months of his
life.
