Page 6A COMMUNITY East Oregonian Altrusa presents Visions of Hope art shows BRIEFLY EOU to host traditional luau Library2Go offers easy access LA GRANDE — A festive event with traditional food and live entertainment is featured during the annual Island Magic Lu’au and Show at Eastern Oregon University. Spanning a tradition of 30 years, students in the Polynesian and Navigators clubs invite the public to attend. The event is Saturday with the luau beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the university’s Gilbert Center and the show starting at 7:30 p.m. in McKenzie Theatre in Loso Hall, both on the La Grande campus. Admission is $12 for general admission or $10 for students, seniors and children. Tickets are available at the EOU Bookstore, EOU Multicultural Center and Looking Glass Books, 1118 Adams Ave., La Grande. For more information, call 541-962-3741. Altrusa International of Hermiston is hosting Visions of Hope art shows April 29 in Hermiston and April 30 in Irrigon that will raise money for children at the orphanage. Wednesday Morning PBS ABC NBC CBS FOX PENDLETON — The public has an opportunity to learn bead-making from a master craftsman. Presented by Pendleton Center for the Arts, Kevin Boylan will guide participants in the safe use of torches to melt and wrap glass rods into flame-worked beads. All materials and tools are provided during the sessions, including glass in a wide range of colors. The classes are Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the arts center, 214 N. Main St., Pendleton. The cost is $85 for members and $90 for non-members. The materials fee is $20. For more information or to register, call 541-278-9201.
