RECORDS Saturday, November 12, 2016 East Oregonian Umatilla County sheriff’s office adds to ranks East Oregonian Two new Umatilla County sheriff’s deputies are on their way to police school. The sheriff’s office in a written statement reported Steven McDaniel and Jeff Brown will attend the 16-week basic police course at the Oregon Public Safety Academy, Salem. Once they complete that work, they will have several more weeks of field training. The sheriff’s office hired McDaniel as a full time patrol deputy on Sept. 15. He worked as an on-call corrections deputy with the agency since 2014. He has 18 years of experience in the Oregon Army National Guard and is a chief warrant officer with Bravo Company, 168 Aviation, Pendleton. McDaniel, a Riverside High School, Boardman, graduate, pilots a CH-47F Chinook helicopter and served two tours of combat duty in Iraq and Kuwait and this summer returned from duty in Afghanistan. Brown has been a Umatilla County Commu- nity Justice probation and parole officer since 2006 and Tuesday begins work as a sheriff’s patrol deputy. He is a Pendleton High School graduate and has a state certification for parole and probation officers. And come Dec. 1, sher- iff’s deputy Loren Westmo- reland takes on the role of detective with the Umatilla County Community Justice Department. The new position came about through a collaboration between community justice director Dale Primmer, Sheriff Terry Rowan and their depart- ments. Westmoreland will head up fugitive apprehension for probation and parole absconders, sex offender registration and compliance, and investigating new charges involving persons under community justice supervision. Westmoreland has been with sheriff’s office for more than four-and-half years. He holds an intermediate police certification and has a bach- elor’s degree in criminology. Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office WARRANTS November 11, 2016 NO PHOTO 8:56 a.m. - Pendleton Public Works sent a crew to Southwest Hailey Avenue and Southgate to clean up the mess after a 5-gallon oil bucket fell from a Pacific Power truck. 9:02 a.m. - An insurance associate reported the theft of a stove and refrigerator from foreclosed property on Kunze Lane, Boardman. 9:22 a.m. - Pendleton police received a 9-1-1 report of domestic violence at Go Fish RV Park, 1500 S.E. Byers Ave. 10:14 a.m. - An Ione resident reported for the last three months she and a neighbor have had “issues,” which are “getting personal at this point” with inappropriate comments on Facebook. She asked to have a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy call and not come by out of concern the neighbor would retaliate if a deputy were at her home. 10:41 a.m. - A caller told Pendleton police someone may be living in the former auto dealer building at 2250 S.E. Court Ave. 11:01 a.m. - An Irrigon father reported he was concerned his daughter has been assaulted by her boyfriend. 11:48 a.m. - A caller reported a man fell or was hit on the 600 block of Southwest Dorion Avenue, Pendleton, and he was having a hard time walking. 1:14 p.m. - Pendleton emergency services received a second report of a staggering man who fell in the road, this time at Southwest Dorion Avenue and Eighth Street. 1:51 p.m. - A brown and white Shetland pony appeared in the road at Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1221 S.E. Court Place, Pendleton. 1:51 p.m. - Someone stole coffee reward cards and old Doritos from a car on Southeast 10th Street, Irrigon. 3:46 p.m. - Pendleton police received a complaint about three children, ages 6-7, that ran through Southwest Frazer Avenue and 17th Street and acted like they would hit her car with a stick. A few days ago, she also said, they hit her husband’s pickup while it was moving. Police did not find the youths. 5:41 p.m. - Pendleton police receive a request to trespass a person from Sorbenot’s Coffee, 402 S.E.
