RECORDS Thursday, October 27, 2016 East Oregonian PUBLIC SAFETY LOG TUESDAY 12:27 a.m. - A Pendleton woman on Northeast Riverside Avenue called 9-1-1 about the opossum eating her cat’s food on the front porch. She asked law enforcement to remove the animal but not injure it. 1:42 a.m. - A woman reported her “ex” followed her all day and just drove up in a black Dodge Dart to her work at the Pilot Travel Center, 2115 S. Highway 395, Stanfield, then left. 2:48 a.m. - Pendleton police responded to a report of a possible prowler outside a residence at Indian Hills Village Apartment, 1335 S.W. Second St., but did not find anyone. 5:34 a.m. - A 9-1-1 caller on East Jennie Avenue, Hermiston, reported, “There is a guy ... on the roof” of a neighbor’s house. 6:02 a.m. - A Stanfield woman on North Dunne Street reported she started her car and a man dressed all in black walked by, and when she went inside her home, the car alarm went off. She said she would remain in her home and asked police to call her. 6:39 a.m. - Security at Smith Frozen Foods, Inc., 101 E. Depot St., Weston, reported an employee searched through another employee’s car, and that employee reported his wallet is missing. The security officer reported the suspect is in the office and asked for a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy to come to the business. The security worker also said no one told the suspect about the call to law enforcement. 7:18 a.m. - Oregon State Police are looking for a 17-year-old from Hines after a black Honda Accord crashed several miles east of Pendleton. The car slid onto the north shoulder of the westbound side of Interstate 84 near milepost 221 and crashed into a dirt embankment. A state police trooper found the car, but the driver and any occupants were gone. The trooper contacted the owner, a 19-year-old woman in Burns, who said her 17-year-old boyfriend took the car without her permission and called her at 4:30 a.m. to report he crashed it. She also said she did not know where he was, but she identified the person he was with. 7:26 a.m. - Two large dogs on Southwest 11th Street, Hermiston, jumped on children walking to school and pulled their backpacks. The mother reported she walked her children the rest of the way to school and did not know where the dogs live. 8:10 a.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received another report of people neglecting their goat on Southwest Second Street, Irrigon. The caller said the owners only moved the goat back from the road after deputies checked on it Saturday. 9:56 a.m. - A caller complained to Pendleton police about her mother invading her privacy and asked to speak to an officer in person. 1:14 p.m. - Hermiston police received a call from staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center, 610 N.W. 11th St., Hermiston, reporting a patient in “a high-stress situation” who seems unable to care for her two young children. 1:46 p.m. - Staff at McKay Creek Estates, an assisted living facility at 1601 Southgate Place, Pendleton, asked for an officer to respond to a resident who is missing $26. 3:03 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office received a second-hand report of a female assault victim at West Punkin Center and Northwest Geer roads, Hermiston. 4 p.m. - A caller reported the theft of a Chevrolet 1-ton pickup with a full tool box, welding tanks upright, from Birch Creek Road, Milton-Freewater. 5:41 p.m. - Pendleton police received a call about a female locking two puppies inside a storage unit at Southeast Court Avenue and Court Place, Pendleton. Police did not find the suspect. 6:48 p.m. - Hermiston police received complaints about door-to-door solicitors. The first report came from a resident on East Highland Avenue, who claimed a female on Monday tried to sell Dish Network service but was back again, only this time as a sales person for Charter Communications Inc. The second report came at 7:21 p.m. from a Northeast Gladys Drive resident who said a Charter employee was “aggressive in her tactics.” 8:18 p.m. - A man reported the theft of his 2016 Toyota Prius from his garage on South First Street, Irrigon. The car owner also identified a possible suspect. 8:53 p.m. - A Pendleton man on Southwest 17th Street reported someone poured chocolate syrup on his front door handle and front steps. 9:58 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office received a request to send marine patrol Wednesday morning to Sundale, Washington, a few miles west of Arlington, to help find a body in the Columbia River. The Hood River office of the Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission made the request. Sheriff Ken Matlack said he understood two men were in the river in a boat when it capsized, and one made it to shore. He did not have information about who the men were, and the inter-tribal commission did not release informa- tion Wednesday. 10:38 p.m. - A woman told Hermiston police she was driving on East Jennie Avenue and someone threw two eggs at her vehicle. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Boardman police arrested Juan Jiminez, 23, of Boardman, for domestic violence harassment, a misdemeanor, and on two counts of contempt of court after the mother of his child reported he slapped her in the face. April 11, 1944-October 7, 2016 Pendleton February 27, 1928-October 23, 2016 Our beloved SandraLee York Ingebo, 72, entered into rest in the arms of her Lord in the early morning hours of October 7, 2016. She was born in Vancouver, Wash., April 11, 1944, to Clarence Smith York and Ruth Healy York. Sandy graduated from Pendleton High School in 1962. She went on to college for cosmetology in Portland, Ore. She was a hairdresser for 45 years. She worked at Lloyd Center before moving to Hawaii to work at the Waiki-ki Ingebo Hilton. She later moved back inland and worked in The Dalles for LaHarvs for many years. She then opened her own shops starting with Kendra’s La-Tiara Beauty Salon and Tanning, and later also bought Maggie’s Hair Salon on Ninth Street, both in The Dalles. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth York, her daughter René Miner and her grandson Justin Miles-Barker. Sandy was devoted to her church in Wishram where she was a deaconess. She was chair of the Klickitat commu- nity council and known for being the best cook around with many signature dishes. As she was raising her family she also fostered children, took in any troubled or homeless teens, or anyone that needed help, love, or support. She believed in helping everyone she could. She was “mom” to all that knew her. She is survived by her sister NormaJean York Nunamaker; daughters Vanessa Smith, Oce’anna Coleman, Elizabeth Spino, Christine Ingebo and Sarah Ingebo Miller; her son Kenneth Miner; foster son Rick Niemeier; and her nieces and nephews. She had 19 grand- children and 10 great-grand- children. She loved to travel including road trips along the coastline, Graceland, California, and the Hawaiian islands were a few of her favorites. She loved Maui. A memorial service in her honor will be held Friday, October 28 at 1 p.m. at Wishram Community Church with a potluck following. Marie (Burkett) Key Ione October 24, 1938-October 22, 2016 Marie (Burkett) Key, age 77, of Ione, Oregon, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at her home. Marie was born to Richard Burkett and Frances (Breitling) Burkett on Oct. 24, 1938, at home near Whitehouse, Texas. She completed her education in Whitehouse, Texas, later attending a bookkeeper school. In 1972 she and her husband Joe Key moved from Eustace, Texas, to Fossil, Ore. , Joe’s childhood home- town. In 1973 they moved to Kinzua, Key Ore. She was the HR manager for Kinzua Corporation in Kinzua until the sawmill closed in 1978. Marie enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, wood- working and fishing. When her kids were young she made most of their clothes. In 1978 after the closure of the sawmill at Kinzua the family moved to Ione, Ore. During this time she worked at various office jobs and had a part-time business as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. She was the office manager for the Morrow County Road Department when she retired in 1999. Marie was involved in her community and was instrumental in creating a local Ione newsletter and also wrote Ione High School sports articles for the Heppner Gazette Times newspaper for a few years. Marie loved God and went to Africa one summer as a 10/27 missionary to help spread his word. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Key; and son Richard Henry. She is survived by a sister, Barbara Shackelford (Gaylon); children Lenora McClard (John), Tim Key (Shelly) and Jeff Key; grandchildren Stephanie Hudson, Gabe Nevala, Ryan Nevala, Jenny New (David), Emily Spike (Casey), Savannah Henry, Abby Villanueva (Tony) and Justin Key; great-grand- children Nick Spicer, Savannah Nevala, Emerson Spike, Landry Villanueva, Rory Spike, Braxton Villanueva and Rowan Villanueva; nephew Mark Shackelford (Debbie); and niece Stacey Simmons (Paul). She was involved in reviving the Sumpter Stump Dodger train and committed to the local community church. For 10 years Valeda and Herb gave their lives to helping others through the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, traveling throughout the United States from Alaska to Louisiana at their own expense. They helped churches of any denomination with building and restoration projects. After her husband’s death, she married Shammy Johnson from Vale and later moved to Pendleton and Pilot Rock. Valeda was preceded in death by her parents Herb and Vera Purvis; husband Herb; son Joe; granddaughter Charlee Holton; husband Shammy Johnson; and siblings Ben Purvis, Dan Purvis and Beth Ferguson. She is survived by her sister Nadine Greene, son Bill Holton, daughter Cindy Womack, eight grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Cirrus Drive, Bldg. 23, Beaverton, OR 97005. )/2256$03/( &/($5$1&( Cineplex Show Times $5 Classic Movie Valeda Holton, age 88, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016, at Willowbrook Care Home following a brief illness. Born in Ontario, Oregon, to Herb and Vera Purvis, she lived most of her life in Vale. After graduation from Vale Union High, she attended one year of college at Eastern Oregon College in La Grande. Valeda married Herb Holton in 1948 and they lived in Vale until 1985. Valeda was a gifted decorator, floral arranger, seamstress, crafter, Holton and business woman. She managed the bookkeeping for their family business, Vale Auto Body, and also worked at the county courthouse, and then US Bank while raising her family. She owned a successful antique store called “Grandma’s Cellar” in Vale for a number of years. She loved camping, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, and exploring the remote areas of Eastern Oregon searching for treasures at abandoned homesteads. Valeda was a championship bowler, loved playing cards and board games, and hosting guests. She and Herb often took in teenagers who needed a place to stay while attending high school or because they were going through rough times. The door to her home was always open to people in need.
