The Morrow County Sheriff’s Ofice responded and found the 50-year-old man was complaining of gallbladder problems. 8:13 a.m. - Hermiston police received a 9-1-1 call for an oficer to help a 9-month-old baby locked inside a white Plymouth PT Cruiser in front of the U.S. Post Ofice, 375 W. Orchard Ave. 8:31 a.m. - Pendleton police received a call about juvenile males “wrestling around” inside the lobby at the closed Pendleton Grain Growers store, 1000 S.E. Dorion Ave. 9:27 a.m. - Milton-Freewater police received reports of a break-in and vehicle prowls on the 1100 block of Helen Avenue, and then about two hours later a similar call came in from the 900 block of Vining Avenue. A third call at 3:19 p.m. reported the theft of a crossbow with scope and bolts from the 1100 block of Helen Avenue. 9:33 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice receive a report of ive or six neglected horses at the corner of Banks Lane and East Punkin Center Road, Hermiston. 10:25 a.m. - A member of the Dry Creek Neighborhood Watch on Ferguson Road, Weston, reported a young male on Tuesday around 5 p.m. asked for permission to hunt on the property. The owner denied him permission, but that did not stop the young hunter from going onto the property. 11:59 p.m. - An employee of Wicked Kitty Tattoo & Piercing, 132 S. Main St., Pendleton, called 9-1-1 for police to trespass a female who refused to leave. The business’s owner, Jason Lybrand, is in the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, on multiple drug crime charges. 12:19 p.m. - A mother told Hermiston police she took a $200 coat to Neli’s Alterations, 130 E. Main St., Hermiston, which went out of business and has not returned the coat. 1:15 p.m. - A person asked to speak to a Boardman police oficer about harassment, which began an investigation. 3:12 p.m. - A woman on Southeast Ninth Street, Pendleton, asked for police to capture the growling dog that won’t let her out of her house. 3:18 p.m. - Pendleton police took a report of an assault on Northwest 10th Street. 3:45 p.m. - Stanield police took a report of criminal mischief at Stanield Secondary School, 1120 N. Main St., Stanield. 3:56 p.m. - A caller reported she was driving by Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St., and someone in a white car threw an apple at her window. The Oregon license plate on the suspect’s vehicle was UDC 316, the caller reported. 5:21 p.m. - A hiker on his family’s pasture near Tollgate reported inding a Colt AR-16 from the late 1960s or early 1970s. The gun may have fallen off an all-terrain vehicle, he said. 7:16 p.m. - Hermiston police received a request to trespass several transients from the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 1350 N. First St. 9:38 p.m. - A man on West Laird Avenue, Hermiston, called 9-1-1 to report he was in a domestic violence situation with his wife. Though it was not physical, he was drinking and children were in the home. 9:47 p.m. - Pendleton police found an injured duck at Walker’s Furniture & Mattress, 1907 S.W. Emigrant Ave. 11:44 p.m. - Umatilla police responded to a 9-1-1 call on Pomono Drive for a man hitting a woman several times in the side of the face and neck. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Hermiston police arrested Matthew Allen Dean Pearce, 27, of Everett, Washington, for possession of methamphet- amine and on a felony probation violation. •Hermiston police at about 4:30 p.m. responded to the 800 block of Ridgeway Avenue on a report of a man pushing a woman to the ground. Police arrested Jonathan Aaron Paris, 33, of Hermiston, for third-degree assault. The Umatilla County District Attorney’s Ofice iled initial charges against Paris of attempted second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault, two counts of harassment, recklessly endangering another person, attempted fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence, and harassment. As of Thursday, Paris remained in the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton. •And the Morrow County Sheriff’s Ofice reported a deputy on Monday cited Marcelino Tzanahua-Colohua, 35, of Ione, for driving under the inluence of intoxicants. Umatilla October 16, 1951-October 10, 2016 Jane Starner (née Irwin) passed away Monday, October 10 at her home in Umatilla after a prolonged ight with cancer. She was born in Portland, Oregon, on October 16, 1951. Jane grew up in Stevenson, Washington, and Milton-Freewater, Oregon, and graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in educa- tion. After taking several teaching jobs throughout Eastern Oregon and Idaho, she settled in Umatilla in 1985 and married her Starner husband, George, in 1993 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Those who loved Jane knew her to have a quick wit and warm smile. She was fast to laugh and generous with her time and love, qualities which served her well in her teaching career. She taught at Clara Brownell Middle School until retirement. Jane was an active community leader and was given the 2014 Umatilla Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award. The entire community will mourn her passing and will remember her frankness, industriousness, and warmth. She was predeceased by her father Hugh and brother John. She is survived by her husband George; son Chris- topher; daughters Kimi, Niki, Klista and Cindi; mother Janet; sister Nancy, brothers Phil and Dan; and 14 grand- children. She was loved iercely by her family and friends, all of whom will miss her terribly. A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on her birthday, October 16, 2016, in Herm- iston.
