Seattle is two games behind Baltimore and Toronto with three games to play. The Orioles defeated the Blue Jays 4-0 to pull even atop the wild card race. Detroit, which was rained out against Cleveland, is a half- game ahead of the Mariners. They knew what they needed to do today and wanted to boost themselves back after getting shutout by La Grande,” Mac-Hi coach Martin Martinez said. “We were on (Pendleton) all game, we moved the ball well and built a comfortable lead.” Mac-Hi (5-3-1, 1-1) defender Anna Lonai scored the game’s fi rst goal in the fi rst half, when she joined the rush and buried a rebound on her only shot attempt of the game to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Jackie Gomez and Shara Carranza added a goal each in the second half for the Pioneers, and helped the team to a total of 27 shot attempts and 15 shots on goal in the game. Goalkeeper Mallory Copeland faced a total of four shots from Pendleton (0-6), and stopped all of them. Mac-Hi next hits the road again for a league game at Baker on Saturday at 2 p.m., while Pendleton will regroup and travel to The Dalles on Tuesday. Wilson participated fully in prac- tice with the Seattle Seahawks for a second consecutive day Thursday after suffering a sprained MCL in last Sunday’s 37-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers. It’s led head coach Pete Carroll to be equally confi dent in Wilson’s chances to play. “He’s pretty determined to get this done,” Carroll said. “He’s upbeat and feeling good and he’s worked really, really hard to do everything to be right and he’s going to go.” Wilson said he was able to do everything in practice Wednesday. The league announced Thursday that the Seattle Storm forward received 38 of the 39 votes from a national media panel. San Antonio’s Moriah Jefferson got the other vote. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 draft out of Connecticut, Stewart averaged 18.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks, becoming the sixth player in league history to reach those averages in the same Stewart season. Cubs, Pirates play to MLB’s fi rst tie game in 11 years PITTSBURGH (AP) The Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates played to the fi rst tie game in the major leagues since 2005 when rain forced the teams to stop in the sixth inning Thursday night with the score 1-all. The Cubs and Pirates aren’t scheduled to play again this season, and the game won’t be made up because it doesn’t affect postseason positioning. So instead of becoming a suspended game, the stats count and it was declared a tie the fi rst since Houston and Cincinnati went seven innings on June 30, 2005, before rain halted them. Willson Contreras had two hits and scored for the Cubs, who have already clinched the best record in the majors.f The game was called after a delay of 1 hour, 23 minutes.
