COMMUNITY Thursday, September 29, 2016 BRIEFLY Zumba offers workout in Ione IONE — A dance- exercise class that will help groove people into shape is being offered in south Morrow County. The zumba sessions began this week, but it’s not to late to join the fun. The classes, which run through Dec. 8, are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. in the gymnasium at Ione Community School, 445 Spring St. The cost is $59 for twice a week sessions or $39 for once a week. Deadline looms for Pendleton grants PENDLETON — Fall grants are on the horizon through the Pendleton Foundation Trust. The grants are awarded to assist the Pendleton community to improve services and other amenities for the citizens of Pendleton. Kids to create Halloween house PENDLETON — As part of the Kids in the Kitchen series, children ages 5-9 are invited to build a graham cracker version of a gingerbread house. Halloween Houses is Friday, Oct. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the Pendleton Recreation Center, 510 S.W. Dorion Ave. The cost is $12 and is due by Friday, Oct. 7. Sponsored by Pendleton Parks & Recreation, Chef Sara will lead the class. Parent assistance is welcome and appreciated. FFA students sell apples, pears HEPPNER — Fall is in the air and that means apples and pears are in season. To raise money, the Heppner FFA is selling fruit from Davis Orchards of Milton-Freewater. A 20-pound box of apples is $17 and a 28-pound box of pears is $29. Orders must be placed by Thursday, Oct. 13. The pick-up date is Friday, Oct. 21 at Heppner High School.
