RECORDS Thursday, September 1, 2016 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG East Oregonian OBITUARIES Wallace Scott McGill TUESDAY 1:24 a.m. - Pendleton police received a report of a large male wearing all black walking with a lashlight and looking in cars and yards on Southwest 18th Street. 2:58 a.m. - An Athena caller told the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice he learned of a woman going around poisoning dogs in Athena. His dog is ill, he said, and he was sure the woman living down the street poisoned his dog. 6:49 a.m. - A man called the Irrigon Justice Center, Irrigon, and asked to speak to someone after learning his dog “attacked someone and was put down while he was in jail.” A Morrow County sheriff’s deputy tried to call the man, but was not able to contact him. 7:57 a.m. - A Pendleton caller reported a vehicle break-in on Northwest 57th Street. A second caller at 8:13 a.m. reported someone broke into her car on Northwest Ingram Lane and stole two baseball caps, a duffel bag with clothes and a watch. 7:45 a.m. - A Hermiston man on Northeast Seventh Street told police it looks like someone took a baseball bat to his mailbox. 8:16 a.m. - IRS phone scammers targeted a Hermiston woman, who asked to speak to an oficer about the ongoing calls. 9:04 a.m. - A woman reported the theft of part of her fence from Adams Road, Pendleton. 9:26 a.m. - Morrow County sheriff’s deputies responded to Green Acres Park, 80542 Paterson Ferry Road, Irrigon, and separated two men for ighting and told them to stay away from one another. 12:50 p.m. - Two Hispanic males ran from a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy at a “grow” site at Kosmos and North Loop roads, Stanield. 3:24 p.m. - Eastern Oregon Rental & Sales, 338 N.W. 57th Drive, Pendleton, reported the theft of a Barreto Stump Grinder Model E30SG. The store manager said a customer rented the machine on Aug. 26 and was to return it the next day but still has not. The business called the man to no avail, and an employee went to the customer’s address only to ind the man did not live there. 3:49 p.m. - A man loitering at Cottage Flowers, 1725 N. First St., Hermiston, used an outlet behind the business to charge his cellphone. An employee of the business asked police to have the man move along. 5:05 p.m. - Someone broke into a vehicle at Tri-Harbor Landing Apartments, 210 Klickitat St., Umatilla. The vehicle’s owner told police her husband noticed in the morning the glove box and the hood were open and someone may have tried to remove the stereo. 6:05 p.m. - Pendleton police received a report of possible elder abuse or neglect. 6:26 p.m. - A resident at the apartments at 230 E. Dogwood Ave., Hermiston, told police a woman from the apartment below hers pounded on the door and claimed the caller was in her parking space. However, the caller told police, there is no assigned parking at the complex. She also reported someone parked a red vehicle directly behind her white Chevrolet Traverse to block her in. 7:09 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of a woman who asked for help while pushing a car on Southeast 10th and East Main streets and claimed her boyfriend assaulted her and took her wallet and phone. 7:28 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice received a report of six gunshots and a male yelling “Go ahead and shoot me” near Central Station, 100 E. Main St., Weston. Deputies did not ind anyone suspicious. 10:49 p.m. - Two people prowled through yards in the neighborhood near the assisted-living facility Columbia Care Cottage-Ozmac, 325 Leaf Lane, Hermiston. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Umatilla police arrested Crystal Dyann Homan-Lara, 31, of Pendleton, for depositing lighted material on land or a highway (arson), providing false information to police, resisting arrest and on a warrant. •Hermiston police arrested Terry Lynn Longhorn, 57, no address provided, for driving under the inluence of intoxicants. Page 5A Pendleton August 9, 1997-August 29, 2016 Marie May Roy Pilot Rock April 7, 1928-August 29, 2016 Marie May Roy passed away at her home, under hospice care, at the age of 88. One of ive children, Marie was born in Pendleton, Oregon, on April 7, 1928, to Lester and Etta Hascall. Raised on a ranch on East Birch Creek, Marie attended the Byrd School followed by junior high and high school in Pilot Rock. After high school gradu- ation, Marie went to beauty school in Portland, Oregon. Following beauty school, Marie returned to Pilot Rock where she worked at various jobs in town and retired as a cook from the Pilot Rock Elementary School. Marie said her favorite, and most important job, was being a wife, homemaker, and mother. Marie was a great cook and was known by many as the “Pie Lady.” Marie met the love of her life, Don Roy, when she was 12 years old. She and Don were married on March 17, 1949, and had two sons, Jim and Dean. Marie and Don spent a good amount of their time at their cabins in the Blue Mountains. Following retirement, they had grand adventures, with lifelong friends, traveling to Alaska and Arizona. Marie is survived by her husband, Don Roy; son Jim Roy and wife Dee of Corvallis; son Dean Roy and wife Theresa of Pendleton; grandson Levi and wife Amber of Eagle River, Alaska; two great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Pilot Rock Ceme- tery on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a gathering at the Pilot Rock Community Center.
