The goal is to allow players to defend more aggressively without too many adjustments based on offensive alignment. On offense: The Knights’ offense is built around its rushing attack, which must replace several linemen and a 1,000-yard back. Irrigon attempted just 62 passes in 2015. On defense: From a base 4-4 the Knights employ a swarm defense which looks to shut down opposing rushing attacks and force teams to put the ball in the air. Sheller’s key to the season: “Get better every day. Be willing to sacrifi ce for your teammates. Like in SD4 last season, the third-place team beat the league champ in the state semifi nals to earn a spot in the championship. It should be another tough season in SD1, and Echo will try to force its way into the playoff hunt after injuries helped derail its 2015 campaign. The league gets four berths in the state playoffs.
