into a make-and-take workshop at the Arts Center! We’ll have a seasonal project going on, and each student will take home some cool crafts at the end of the session. FREE FOR ALL! (UP TO AGE 12 OR SO) – a FREE drop-in class! EVERY SATURDAY, 9:30-10:15 AM Stop in for a fun, free Saturday morning art project with one of our creative and enthusiastic staff members. Pop your head in or stay for the whole session! Kids under 8 must be accompanied by a parent or older pal to help them with the project. ART STUDIO (AGES 0-12) – a FREE drop-in class! EVERY MONDAY, 4:00-5:30PM FALL TERM RUNS SEPT. 26 – DEC. 12 Kids of all ages now have full access to the PCA’s art materials and studio space! Inspire your kids to explore art independently through open-ended drawing, painting and collage, or to try out a new technique by working along with the group on a facilitated project (we’ll have a fun, optional project going on each time). The emphasis is on creative learning and play through art making, and kids are welcome to drop in for 15 minutes, or stay for the full session as they like. Parents can participate too! (Children 8 and under must have a parent present.) NO SCHOOL MAKE-AND-TAKE CRAFTS (AGES 8 AND UP) – a FREE drop-in class! 10:30AM – NOON ON THE DATES LISTED Out of school with nothing to do? The Arts Center has you covered! We’ll be sewing capes, painting faces AND passing out candy, and adult and youth participants are both encouraged to stop in and create some Halloween accessories of their own. We’ll get started around 2:00pm and go until the candy runs out. MOVING MOUTH PUPPETS (AGES 6-12) SARAH FRECHETTE, GUEST INSTRUCTOR Using recycled, fabric and art materials, kids will learn how to transform reclaimed boxes into unique puppet characters. Put your hand inside the double box-style puppet to manipulate the mouth - it is quite “Muppet” in style, and great for puppet karaoke! SUNDAY, NOV. 27, 2:00 – 3:30PM $35 MEMBERS / $40 NON-MEMBERS CREATIVE WRITING (AGES 8-12) JENNIFER COSTLEY, INSTRUCTOR Dive into a different aspect of creative writing each week! We will cover Short Story writing, Creative Non-Fiction, and Poetry, encouraging students to express themselves in writing through exercises, games and group interaction. WEDNESDAYS, 6:00PM – 7:00PM, OCT. 26 – NOV. 16 (4 SESSIONS) $35 MEMBERS / $40 NON-MEMBERS TOTS DO ART (0- 4 YEARS OLD) ERICA EDWARDS, INSTRUCTOR Each class, we’ll focus on a different artist, taking inspiration from their work to create a hands-on, experience-focused art project. The mommy-and-me-style format allows kids and parents to learn about art together while providing a fun opportunity to spend time with your tot as well as other families. This class is offered to 0-4 year olds accompanied by an adult. WEDNESDAYS, 10:20-11:00AM, OCT. 5-19 (3 SESSIONS) $15 MEMBERS / $20 NON-MEMBERS + $5 MATERIALS YOUTH SEWING: LEVEL 1 (AGES 7-12) JENNIFER COSTLEY, INSTRUCTOR From threading a needle to running the sewing machine, this class will introduce kids to sewing the fun way. In this skills- based offering, kids will practice sewing lines and turning corners in a series of drills. In the second class, kids will build on those skills to put together a cool tote bag. No experience necessary, but bring your sewing machine if you have one. Class limited to 8 participants. MONDAYS, 5:30 - 6:30PM, NOV. 7 AND NOV. 14 (2 SESSIONS)
