In anticipation of the a new
year and a new council, mayor-
elect John Turner is putting
together a committee to help
assemble Pendleton’s priorities
for 2017 and 2018.
In addition to members of
the city council and staff, the
committee includes represen-
tatives from the Round-Up
Association, the arts community,
the Pendleton Chamber of
Commerce, the Umatilla County
Board of Commissioners, Blue
Mountain Community College,
local businesses, Round-Up
Development Corp. and St.
Anthony Hospital.
Turner expects the committee
to meet once or twice and devise
a list of 10-11 priorities for the
next two years.
Turner and the committee
will spend the ensuing months
presenting the priority list to
community organizations like
Altrusa and Pendleton Rotary
Club and the general public.
He plans to use the input at the
meetings to cull the list to three
or four priorities to be adopted by
the council in January.
Turner said the public is
welcome to attend and observe
