Creedence Clearwater Revisited Photo contributed by a County Fair Jeff Dow via Umatill T he Umatilla County Fair is gearing up for top-notch performers each night during the Aug. 9-13 event, including Creedence Clearwater Revisited, who will take the stage Saturday, Aug. 13. Other main stage musicians include A Thousand Horses (Tuesday, Aug. 9), The Bellamy Brothers (Wednesday, Aug. 10), Brothers Osborne (Thursday, Aug. 11). The concerts are at 9 p.m. on the Wildhorse Resort & Casino Main Stage at the fair- grounds in Hermiston. General admission seating is available with fair admittance. Reserved seats are $12 each, which does not include fair admission. Stu Cook and Doug “Cosmo” may not have intended it, but their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited has taken on a life of its own. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame rhythm section from the legendary group Creedence Clearwater Revival launched the project in 1995 to perform Creed- ence Clearwater Revival hits. Though the pair initially only planned to play private parties, Creedence Clearwater Revisited now performs up to 100 shows a year. “We never really had any inten- tion of playing for the public,” Cook said. “But a friend wanted to promote a couple of concerts. We got talked into it, but didn’t know how it would go over.” Since then, the reaction to Creedence Clearwater Revisited’s concerts has been astounding, driven in part by a generation of kids who, as Cosmo said, “weren’t even born when the music came out.” Joining Cook and Cosmo are lead singer/rhythm guitar player John Tristao, lead guitarist Kurt Griffey and multi-instrumentalist Steve Gunner. Eastern Oregon Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC A Thousand Horses describes their music as a fusion of classic sounds — Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Black Crowes and “Exile on Main Street”-era Rolling Stones, wrapped in a modern-country context. Their debut EP included “Suicide Eyes,” which was featured in the 2011 remake of “Footloose.” The Bellamy Brothers have crafted heartfelt country songs, connecting them with millions of listeners around the world for more than 30 years.
