(AP) — A Colorado bed and breakfast owner armed with just a length of rope helped save a black bear with a giant plastic container stuck on its head. Jim Hawkins got his lasso around the animal’s midsection on the irst throw. He said Thursday that he and the bear “did a rodeo thing for a while” before the animal igured out that Hawkins was the reason it couldn’t run away. That’s when the bear went after Hawkins, leaving him with scrapes and a wound that needed stitches. It then scrambled up a tree, remaining there until oficials arrived. Carbondale District Wildlife Oficer John Groves tells the Post Independent newspaper that oficials tranquilized the bear and cut the container off its head. He’s a magniicent example of how resilient wild animals are. What would be accomplished in removing this bear from the wild and placing him in captivity?” Pedals has gone viral since he irst surfaced two summers ago in Jefferson Township. Because of an injury to his front right leg and left front paw, Pedals walks with an unusual gait on his hind legs. “I understand everybody caring about this animal or any injured animal,” said Leaver. “But it’s a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. The appropriate time to help this bear was when he was originally injured. Now, there’s nothing medically that can be done. He has adapted. The company has been stationed at Ft. The 14-year-old is among delegates to the World Jamboree for Boy Scouts scheduled next month at Sorak National Park on South Korea’s east coast. The son of Mark and Gale Gronso will be a sophomore at Pendleton High School this fall. Andrus of Range, who has invented and received the patent on a new automobile wheel, has been in Ukiah for the last two weeks, making a set of the wheels which he is now demonstrating here and which seems to be a success. But what they saw recently made most people blink twice. It was a handsome (if that is the correct word) six-foot-long boa constrictor wrapped many times around the arm of Lt. Jay Vaughn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Vaughn of Mayville. Vaughn, a 1965 West Point graduate, looked like the Pied Piper of PBS ABC NBC CBS FOX STATION I don’t want to drag my mom into this to prove a point! — Emotional Dad In California Dear Emotional: If your wife’s OB/ GYN agrees that inducing your wife’s labor early will not be harmful to the baby, and that’s what your wife wants, then you are outvoted. While you might request a second medical opinion, I strongly advise against dragging your mother into this disagreement because if you do, it will cause resentment not only against you, but also your mother.
