RECORDS Thursday, July 21, 2016 East Oregonian PUBLIC SAFETY LOG OBITUARIES DEATH NOTICES TUESDAY Barbara Jean (Berland) Prince Loretta B. ‘Lonnie’ Alexander Enterprise March 2, 1935-July 18, 2016 Cayuse (Pendleton) Jan. 9, 1933-July 19, 2016 7 a.m. - Someone abandoned a new bicycle and two totes of property at a residence on Southwest 14th Street, Pendleton. 8:35 a.m. - A resident of Malcolm Street, Hermiston, reported an attempted burglary at his home. The Umatilla County Sheriff’’s Ofice took a report. 9:54 a.m. - A man who hit a deer south of Love’s Travel Stop on Tower Road near Boardman called the Morrow County Sheriff’s Ofice to inquire whether he could take the carcass home. Sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate the deer, and told the man he could not take the animal home anyway. 10:28 a.m. - The owner of a rental on North Main Street, Heppner, reported the theft of a stove from the home. Morrow County sheriff’s deputies are investigating. 12:16 p.m. - Umatilla police and ire departments were called to a gazebo on ire near the river at B and Sixth streets. 12:54 p.m. - A man at Mentzer & Elliot Chain Saw Sale, 420 N.E. Elm St., Pilot Rock, came into the business to report he had just been assaulted. 2:33 p.m. - A residence on Northeast Riverside Avenue, Pendleton, was reportedly broken into again. The homeowner requested contact from a Pendleton police oficer. 3:17 p.m. - A resident of East Jennie Avenue, Hermiston, returned home from a two-week trip out of town and discovered his home had been broken into and ransacked. He requested contact from a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy. 3:32 p.m. - An Auburn, Wash., man stopped at the viewpoint overlooking Pendleton on Interstate 84 at milepost 223 noticed a family of four writing on the handrails of the covered gazebo at the viewpoint. He said he took photos of the writing and gave dispatch a description of the family’s vehicle, then followed them until he turned off the freeway at Pilot Travel Center near Stanield. An Oregon State Police trooper stopped the family at Space Age Fuel, 77522 Highway 207, Hermiston, where the family admitted to the vandalism and agreed to pay for the damages. 3:57 p.m. - A patron of Archie’s Restaurant, 194 W. Main St., Pilot Rock, called Pilot Rock police after a man entered the restaurant carrying a tire iron and looking for another man who he claimed had hit him in the head with a hammer. The angry man left on a bicycle toward the Pilot Rock Market. 4:05 p.m. - License plates were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Eighth Street, Umatilla. 4:32 p.m. - The Heppner Fire Department and Heppner ambulance were called to the Morrow-Grant County OHV Park, on Highway 207 south of Heppner, for an ATV accident. One person had a broken leg and the other had dificulty breathing. They were transported to Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Heppner. 5:01 p.m. - Someone let the air out of the tires of several vehi- cles at a residence on East Currant Street, Athena, and drained the coolant from one of them. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice took a report for criminal mischief. 7:02 p.m. - A woman trapping feral cats for a cat rescue organization at Umatilla RV Park, 700 Sixth St., discovered a man who admitted to poisoning cats. The man did so in front of her before he knew who she worked for. She requested contact from a Umatilla police oficer. 7:35 p.m. - Pendleton police were called to a residence on Southwest Ninth Street after a caller said a man was “taking an ax to a lady’s car.” 8:18 p.m. - Employees of Rocket Mart, 2398 N. First St., Hermiston, requested contact from a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy for a man who was refusing to leave the property, pacing around the parking lot and screaming. The man left on foot toward Fiesta Foods, and deputies were unable to locate him. 10:26 p.m. - A resident of Paterson Ferry Road, Irrigon, reported her son and his girlfriend got in a ight and then left the residence. When she went inside the home she discovered her son had taken a baseball bat to the walls. She requested contact from a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Pendleton police arrested Heather Dawn Thornburg, 38, address not provided, for possession of methamphetamine. •Pendleton police arrested Benjamin Michael Neal, 34, address not provided, on charges of fourth-degree assault and strangulation, both felonies, and menacing and interfering with making a report, both misdemeanors. Born to Marvin (Jake) and Barbara Ruth Berland on 3/2/1935 at Enterprise, Oregon. Graduated from Wallowa High School in 1952, and Kinman Business University in 1953. Member of the Chief Joseph Days rodeo court, 1952. Married Ashley Prince of Wallowa, Oregon, in 1953. Received her PHT (pushing hubby through) at Eastern Oregon College, 1958. Retired after 27 years working in the library at Blue Mountain Commu- nity College. Was a member of the League of Women Voters, president in 1971 and again in 1983. Served on the state board of the League of Women Voters, 1982-1983. Presi- dent of the BMCC Support Staff employees, 1974-75. Served on the Umatilla County Education District Service Board from 1975- 1981, chairman 1977 to 1979. Member of the Pendleton Friends of the Library, Umatilla County Historical Society, and Pendleton Arts Council, serving as treasurer 1974- 1976. Was a Cub Scout leader, volunteer for the March of Dimes, and Crow’s Shadow Institute. Loved to read and ride horses. Preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Ashley A. Prince of Enterprise, Oregon; sister Beverly Davidson of Oregon City, Oregon; son Richard Prince of North Plains, Oregon; niece Kara Duyck (Dan) and grandnephews Oscar and Mitchell of Portland, Oregon; and niece Amy Davidson of Oregon City, Oregon. She will be cremated with no services as she requested. Interment of ashes will be at the Wallowa Cemetery. Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise is entrusted with arrangements.
