RECORDS Wednesday, May 25, 2016 East Oregonian PUBLIC SAFETY LOG OBITUARIES DEATH NOTICES MONDAY 7:32 a.m. - A thief stole a white 204 Chevrolet Impala from a driveway on Southwest 19th Street, Pendleton, and headed toward Goodwin Avenue. 8:14 a.m. - An Irrigon mother asked to speak to a deputy about two of her children refusing to go to school. 9:05 a.m. - Juveniles threw an egg at the front door of a business on Southwest Frazer Avenue, Pendleton, and the property owner asked to speak to an oficer. 9:08 a.m. - An ambulance took a 65-year-old Heppner resident to the hospital after the person fell and may have broken an ankle or leg. 9:12 a.m. - An Athena woman reported she had “an incident” last Friday with a man over his parking in a no parking zone on East Main Street, which she said city employees claimed is an ongoing problem. The caller said she took a picture of the vehicle, apparently this made the driver upset and he called her some names. She asked to have a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy check to see if he continues to park illegally. 9:46 a.m. - Pendleton police received a report of another break-in at Premium Tire & Lube, 910 S.W. Emigrant Ave., Pendleton. The caller said this was the fourth break-in. 11:15 a.m. - A man told Hermiston police he lost money in a scam that is going around. 11:31 a.m. - A caller reported the theft of subwoofers and a knife from his vehicle on Cobb Road, Milton-Freewater. 1:36 p.m. - A woman on Washington Street, Athena, asked to speak to a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy about neighbors throwing their trash in her yard. 4:40 p.m. - A Umatilla oficer went to a home on Blue Jay Street to serve a dangerous dog letter. 3:24 p.m. - A Hermiston man on West Moore Avenue told police he allowed a man to use his vehicle, took a nap at about 1 p.m. and now the keys and the vehicle are gone. 8:03 p.m. - A Pendleton man asked for an ambulance after suffering pain all over his body and an extreme headache since 11 a.m. 8:41 p.m. - A woman pushed a man on Southeast Court Street, Heppner, and sprayed him with a hose. The problem started over a driving complaint. 8:50 p.m. - Four or ive people fought at a house on Diagonal Road, Hermiston, prompting a neighbor to call law enforcement. 10:26 p.m. - Law enforcement responded to a ight on Dogwood Loop, Pendleton. 11:58 p.m. - A prowler went house to house and looked in vehicles on Southwest Ninth Street, Hermiston. Police did not ind a suspect. Fred Vincent Atkins Robert J. ‘Bob’ Kilkenny Hermiston September 8, 1937-May 21, 2016 Heppner July 13, 1929-May 24, 2016 ARRESTS, CITATIONS •An Oregon State Police trooper at 11:29 p.m. stopped a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup at about milepost 1 on Lee Street Grade, Pendleton, and found the driver, Chad Robert Payant, 37, of Pendleton, had a suspended license and was on post-prison supervision. The trooper arrested Payant, then searched his backpack and found methamphetamine. Payant now is in the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton, for driving illegally and possession of meth. Fred Vincent Atkins was born September 8th, 1937, to parents Wilson and Virginia Atkins in Filbert, West Virginia. He passed away on May 21st, 2016. He was the second oldest of eight children. Fred served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander and cook. He then worked for the Safeway bakery in Los Angeles for 26 years before retiring. He became active in the Moose Lodge in California before moving to Hermiston, Atkins Oregon. Fred became very involved with the VFW Post 4750, Masons, Shriners, American Legion and Grange in Hermiston. Fred leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Helen Rose Atkins; three children, Joe Sams of Hermiston, Sharlette Digges and husband Richard of San Ardo, California, and Velinda Pinner of Dallas, Texas; sisters Peggy Noland Hix and husband Lonnie of San Diego, California, and Mellisa Jamison of Fall City, Washington; brothers Ron Atkins and wife Ella of Hermiston and Tony Atkins and wife Melody of Fresno, California; grandchildren Angela Stromley and husband Joey, Sondra Guel- Nino, Christopher Digges and wife Bel, and Charles Digges and wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren Tray Moody and wife Lexi, Matthew Husemann, Patrick and Dawson Henry (Guel- Nino), Genevieve, Sebas- tian, Elizabeth, Penelope, Madeleine and Nathaniel Digges; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his father Wilson Atkins, mother Virginia Atkins, stepfather Dwain Barker, and brothers Howard, Jerry and Jakey Atkins. He loved his family, country, church and church family. His love and generosity for family and friends will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. We all love you. Viewing for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Burns Mortuary chapel in Hermiston. Walking tours provide glimpse of Pendleton history PENDLETON — A pair of upcoming walking tours will provide insight into the history of Pendleton. Local historian Keith May will discuss the history and architecture of the grand homes of Pendleton’s North Hill. Robbers, Reprobates and the Red Light District is Sunday, June 12 beginning at MaySons Old Fashioned General Store, 369 S. Main St., Pendleton. May will share about the National Historic District of downtown Pendleton and point out where 32 saloons and 18 bordellos were once located. Each tour costs $5 per person.
