RECORDS Wednesday, May 18, 2016 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG East Oregonian OBITUARIES MONDAY 7:22 a.m. - A woman on Southeast 18th Street, Pendleton, reported at least four cows were in her yard and they were not her cows. 7:34 a.m. - A Weston man on East Mill Street reported the theft of an ampliier, two sports bags and an archery bow. 8:27 - The manager of Centerville RV Park, 213 W. Sherman St., Athena, reported someone broke in and rummaged through the ofice but did not know if anything was missing. 8:41 a.m. - A job site foreman reported the theft of a company-owned Nissan Xterra from Comfort Inn & Suites, 77514 S. Highway 207, Hermiston. He said someone took the car about 30 minutes ago when he left it running while he went inside the store. He also said there was no insur- ance on the vehicle. 8:41 a.m. - A Pendleton ambulance took a woman suffering liver failure to a hospital. 9:22 a.m. - A Pendleton woman asked for an oficer to call her concerning her sister’s abusive husband. 9:24 a.m. - Pendleton emergency services responded to Southwest Athens Avenue for a man suffering a diabetic reaction. An ambulance took him to a hospital. 10:03 a.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice received another report about suspicious characters claiming to work for satellite TV providers. This time a man on West Jefferson Street, Athena, said one Hispanic male and one white male talked to him Saturday at his home and asked for his bank card to conirm information. He said he now has four $1 withdrawals from his bank and then canceled the card. 11:28 a.m. - A male took out a handgun at Sonesta St., Umatilla, and shot at two dogs in an intersection. Law enforcement did not ind the shooter. 11:43 a.m. - A man living on Schroeder Road, Pendleton, reported his ex-girlfriend stole his $165 9-mm handgun and may have thrown it into McKay Creek behind his home. 1:29 p.m. - Grafiti was reported at Hermiston businesses. 2 p.m. - An employee with St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton, reported the theft of a hospital laptop. 2:18 p.m. - A concerned onlooker reported a man parked his car on the road going toward the Hermiston airport, got out of the vehicle to urinate, almost fell backward then started changing his clothes in the roadway. 2:57 p.m. - Pendleton police received a call about a drunk male passed out under a tree at the corner of Southeast Third Street and Court Avenue near the Circle K conve- nience store. The caller also asked for police because the person refused to leave the property. 4:36 p.m. - An Athena woman reported her 50-year-old son-in-law tried to choke her over the use of the car. 5:11 p.m. - Pendleton police got a call about a second person asleep or passed out, this time at Deana’s Auto Biz, 600 S.E. Court Ave., just a few blocks from the previous call. This time, though, the subject was a female. 6:24 p.m. - An Echo woman reported $1,600 missing from her bank account and that a withdrawal happened in Portland. 8:48 p.m. - Stanield police received a report that someone four days ago took a motor home from an unknown location in Echo and moved it to another unknown location. 9:47 p.m. - A man told the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice his mother was getting money from her bank to pay his brother’s drug debts otherwise “he would be killed if he didn’t pay.” ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Hermiston police arrested Daniel Lemus Macias, 24, of Hermiston, for driving under the inluence of intoxicants and driving while suspended/revoked. •Stanield police arrested Matthew David Austin, 60, no address provided, for duii. •Pendleton police arrested Zakkery Gene Shoop, 19, of Pendleton, for fourth-degree domestic violence assault. Robin Jean (Cruz) Blansett Ida Mae Schiewe Pendleton October 18, 1952-May 12, 2016 Weston February 19, 1937-May 14, 2016 Robin Blansett was born on October 18, 1952, in Seattle, Washington. She lost her battle with cancer and went home to her Heavenly Father on May 12, 2016, surrounded by family, covered in prayers, and listening to some of her favorite scriptures. Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jan Cruz. She leaves behind countless family members and friends, including John Blansett, husband of nearly 29 years; siblings David Cruz Blansett (Shirley), Jeanette Godlevsky (Gary), Terry Cruz and Ralph Cruz; children Delly Wilson, Micah Blansett, Wade Blansett, Josh Blansett, Shay Hopkins, Heather Montgomery and Crystal Claire; 12 grandchil- dren; and seven nieces and nephews. Robin’s hobbies included sewing, decorating, redeco- rating, moving furniture from room to room, soaking up the sunshine, shopping, and spending time with her chil- dren and grandchildren. She attended Cornerstone Church and dedicated her life to blessing others, both through her work with DHS (1994-2010) and Columbia Care (2013-2015), and by opening her home and her heart to over 100 foster children who she and John loved and accepted as their own. Graveside inurn- ment will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton, followed by a service to celebrate Robin’s life at 11:00 a.m. at the Free Methodist Church. Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner is in care if arrangements. Lynn Owen Marshield, Mo. April 19, 1937- May 7, 2016 Former Pilot Rock resident Lynn Owen, 79, of Marshield, Mo., died Saturday, May 7, 2016. He was born April 19, 1937, in Hazard, Ky. Services have been conducted. Donna A. Wagoner PENDLETON — Local law enforcement will honor their own Friday in a public memorial ceremony. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Ofice organizes the annual event at Til Taylor Park, 700 S.E. Dorion Ave., Pendleton. The park is home to a public service oficer memorial that includes a stature of Taylor, the county sheriff who died July 25, 1920, after being shot by escaping jail inmates. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. The sheriff’s ofice invites the public to attend the event, which usually includes police color guards, a bagpiper, a prayer and a few solemn speeches. There also will be a motorcade procession from the park to the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds following the ceremony. Pilot Rock hosts dental/medical clinic PILOT ROCK — Free dental and medical services will be provided to Pilot Rock, Pendleton and Ukiah residents who don’t have medical insurance. The services include dental exams, digital x-rays, extractions, illings and cleanings. Ida Mae Schiewe of Weston, Oregon, passed away May 14, 2016, at her home at the age of 79. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Milton-Freewater. Concluding services and interment will be in the Weston Cemetery. Mrs. Schiewe was born February 19, 1937, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, the daughter of Michael W. and Mary E. Davis Sohrakoff. She lived in the little town of Keno. She attended Keno Grade School through eight years. She then attended Henley High School for four years. Mrs. Schiewe did a lot of singing in grade school and high school. She was in 4-H for nine years and taught 4-H clubs in cooking and canning. She raised prize shorthorn breeding stock for ive years. She also counseled for four years for county 4-H camps and schools. After high school, she moved to San Francisco, Calif., and worked for Southern Paciic Railroad. She sang in the railroad choir while taking singing lessons. On June 13, 1959, she married Kenneth R. Schiewe in Klamath Falls. Mr. Schiewe was attending Oregon Technical Institute. The couple lived in Harrisburg, Ore., where Ken worked as a welder and Mrs. Schiewe cared for a three-year-old blind child. The couple learned a lot from her, and the most important was patience. The couple then moved to Halsey, Oregon, and on to Weston where their ranch joined Ken’s parents’ ranch. It was here that they raised their three children and cattle. Mrs. Schiewe worked for PABATCO in Athena for many years. She is a member of Bethel Baptist Church and the women’s prayer group and the Oregon Farm Bureau. Every summer the Schiewe’s put up hay and hired boys to help, plus a truck driver. All through the years, they’ve had the greatest bunch of boys. The couple have high hopes for our country with young men like the ones they hired. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Schiewe; son Joseph Schiewe; daughters Dianna Ohlsen and Donna Mattson; sister Sandra Swafford; grandchil- dren Tyler Schiewe, Megan Schiewe, Jonah Schiewe, Will Mattson and Luke Mattson; and numerous nieces, nephews and great- nieces and -nephews.
