He was born December 12, 1973, in Hermiston to Deborah Jean Stephens and Michael John Palmer. Although born in Herm- iston, Trampis OLYHG EULHÀ\ LQ Walla Walla, Baker City and Arizona while growing up. He graduated from Hermiston High School in 1992 and was part of the Bulldog football and wrestling teams. T r a m p i s Palmer married Tiffany McDaniel on November 28th, 1992, in Hermiston. In September of 1999, Jake was born and their family would become complete when Megan joined them in March 2002. This year they would have celebrated their 24th anni- versary. Tramp’s love for sports followed him after high school and he started his ¿UVWRIPDQ\FRDFKLQJMREV the year after he graduated. In 1993, he started coaching Grid Kids Football, as his little brother was on the team and Tramp was hooked! Grid Kids at that time had about 60 kids in the program with four teams. After a few years of coaching, Tramp became president of the youth football program and remained president until 2013. After dedicating 20 years of countless hours, love and effort into the program and kids, it had grown to over 200 players and 10 teams at the time he stepped down. He touched so many lives during this time as both a mentor and coach, sharing his love for the game with all the kids he came into contact with. Tramp’s love of sports did not only encompass football. He was involved with the Hermiston Youth Wrestling program for many years also. He was voted in as tournament director one evening (when he was absent from a board meeting!) and would remain so for several years during the time that his son Jake was a youth wrestler. Not only did he coach boys sports, he also coached City League basketball and HYBA for Megan’s teams. He rounded off his girl’s basketball coaching with three seasons of Megan’s AAU team, the Purple Crush. Coaching girls was GH¿QLWHO\ D QHZ H[SHULHQFH for Tramp after coaching boys for so many years, but he loved spending time with his daughter and her sports for a change. Tramp found a new sports love in 2011. Lacrosse was still fairly new in Hermiston then, and after watching his son play for a year as D ¿IWK JUDGHU KH EHJDQ coaching the next year. He became the youth lacrosse program director the following year and has been involved ever since. His goal was to make the youth lacrosse program as successful as the youth football program. 7UDPS ¿QDOO\ achieved his dream coaching job this year when he was hired as head varsity coach for the Hermiston High School lacrosse team. He was excited to be a part of the high school program and was so looking forward to a great season with players that he had coached in the youth program in previous years. What made it even more special was having Jake on the team too. Dinnertimes were spent listening to them discuss practice and how things went that day. Nothing was more special to Tramp than his wife, kids, and his family. They were the most important pieces of him and he was so very proud of them. Tramp was a WHUUL¿FKXVEDQGGDGFRDFK friend and mentor to all. He was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed in the community. Trampis is survived by his wife Tiffany, children Jake and Megan, mother Debb Gardner of Ukiah, father Mike Palmer of Colo- rado, sister Jackie Herrera of Hermiston, brother Josh Gawith of Tri-Cities, grandparents Carl and Alice Palmer of Herm- iston, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
