Teater Port Angeles, Wash. February 10, 2016 Jan. 25, 1995-March 16, 2016 William D. “Bill” Glennie, a long-time resident of Pendleton, passed away on February 10, 2016, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and soul mate, Susan C. Glennie, in 2001. He is survived by three children: Bruce, Linda and Cindee, four grandchildren, two great-grand- children, and nine nieces and nephews, all of whom live in western coastal states. Bill Glennie was Glennie born near Klondike in Sherman County on 9-6-1924, raised in Eastern Oregon, and graduated from The Dalles High School. He and Susan were married in September 1943. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII, from April 1943 until he was honorably discharged in December 1945. He received the Bronze Service Star for the Asiatic-Paci¿c Campaign and the Good Conduct Medal. Pendleton The couple stayed in The Dalles until moving to Heppner, then Pendleton in the late 1950s, where he worked for Cater- pillar dealerships in heavy equipment construction service and management. He was a quiet man with a quick, dry sense of humor. His humility and courage lay in his complete concen- tration and dedi- cation to deeply loving and caring for his family. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and his children attended St. Joseph’s Academy in their primary grades of education. Following Susan’s death he lived alone until his health declined in 2015. Interment will be arranged at a Veteran’s Administration Cemetery near Portland, where his remains will be placed at rest with his wife’s. No services are scheduled at this time. Carl W. Thorpe Heppner October 10, 1931-March 15, 2016 Carl W. Thorpe passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, having lived a very active and long life. A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery. He was born in Heppner on October 10, 1931, the son of Eddie R. and Reta M. Crawford Thorpe. Carl attended Heppner schools, where he graduated from high school. He considered Heppner his home for the past 84 years. Carl worked his ranch/ farm, built houses and covered hundreds of thousands of miles while driving logging trucks over the years. He belonged outdoors, laboring in the forests or the ¿elds and tending to their creatures. Hard work was his friend. He is loved and survived by his two daughters, Carla Jean Thorpe and Joycelyn K. Garrett and two granddaugh- ters, Tiffany L. Crayne and Baylee L. Garrett. He has a sister, Eda Mae Lovgren, a niece, Marsha Shannon and a nephew, Mark Lovgren. Teater, 21, of Pendleton died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in Pendleton. He was born Jan. 25, 1995.
