A reception will follow the service. 7:04 a.m. - An employee of Umatilla County reported someone during the night entered the road department’s yard on Westgate, Pendleton, and tampered with items. 7:33 a.m. - A Hermiston call told police a small dog was dead after a vehicle ran over it on East Main Street near Southeast 10th Street, and children walking to school would see it. 7:44 a.m. - Someone opened a new credit account in the name of a Hermiston man, who told police he found out after receiving notice in the mail. 8:57 a.m. - A Stan¿eld woman told police she was scammed and wanted to talk to an of¿cer about it in person. 11:19 a.m. - A 9-1-1 caller in Umatilla swore at a dispatcher, did not want to give her address and said she wanted an of¿cer to ³remove psycho from her residence.´ She continued to be uncooperative and then hung up. The dispatcher called back but only got a voice mail. 12:48 p.m. - Hermiston police received a report of ³lots of activity lately in and out´ of the vacant house on the corner of East Wilshire Avenue and Northeast Fourth Street. 12:51 p.m. - Pendleton police received an emergency call about a female hitting a male in the back at Northwest Carden Avenue and Northgate/Highway 37. 1:09 p.m. - Well, at least this guy was not upside down in a tree, but a Pendleton woman reported a man standing ³totally naked´ in front of a window in a house on Southwest 41st Street. 13:23 - A Pendleton woman reported someone during the weekend stole $1,100 cash from her home on Northwest Bailey Avenue. 1:57 p.m. - A Pendleton ambulance took a woman to the hospital after she blew out her knee. 4:40 p.m. - A Pendleton woman told police she was receiving threats from a person she believes is a scam artist in regards to her computer. 5:25 p.m. - Stan¿eld police received a report that a man on Monday morning destroyed the windshield wipers on a woman’s car on South Main Street. 5:30 p.m. - A Hermiston caller on Vincent Lane reported seeing a cougar in her yard on Feb. 27 between 3 and 4 p.m. This was the ¿rst time she saw a cougar in the area, she said, and she lived there since 1968. The mountain lion was blonde and had a very long tail, she said, and was sure it was not a dog. 7:59 p.m. - A Milton-Freewater man on North Columbia Street reported he was out of the house when he told a male he was letting stay in a trailer to get his belongings. The caller said he returned home and found someone ransacked his house and his 1998 Dodge Durango pickup was gone. 8:22 p.m. - A woman at Our Lady Of Angels, Hermiston, told police a 15-year-old smells like alcohol, but the parents would not let the woman take the teen to the hospital. The caller asked for an of¿cer to help. 9:51 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Of¿ce received a report from a delivery driver on Diagonal Road, Hermiston, who found at least 10 shopping carts and other carts in pieces from Wal-Mart, Safeway, Big Lots and Dollar Tree. 10:04 p.m. - A Pendleton woman called 9-1-1 to report a man was in front of her residence on Northwest 15th Street and yelled he was going to kill her. She called back at 1:52 a.m. Wednesday morning and said the man grabbed her as she walked out of the house, so she hit him with her purse, and he ran down the hill. ARRESTS, CITATION Umatilla Tribal Police Department arrested Terence Lee Denny, 36, of Mission, for assault and domestic abuse. Morrow County Sheriff’s Of¿ce arrested Ronald George Currin, 79, of the Heppner area, for unauthorized use of a vehicle, second-degree burglary and second-degree trespassing. Oregon State Police arrested Christopher Lee Fritz, 36, of Heppner, for driving under the inÀuence of into[icants. State police reported his blood-alcohol level was .15 percent, almost twice the legal limit of .08 percent. The women piled into a ‘55 Plymouth and journeyed across Wash- ington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon. They docu- mented their trip in an elaborate scrapbook, which included photos, post- cards, brochures, napkins, receipts, beverage labels, parking permits and hand- written notes. McCormick found the scrapbook 50 years later in a thrift store. McCormick is taking a road trip of his own to VKDUHWKH¿OPLQVL[(DVWHUQ Oregon cities, including Hermiston and Pendleton.
