RECORDS Friday, March 11, 2016 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG WEDNESDAY 1 a.m. - Morrow County emergency services received call-outs for a vehicle that rolled three or four times at Interstate 84 and West Paterson Ferry Road, Boardman, with one male trapped inside. Multiple agencies responded, and an ambulance took the person to Good Shepherd Medical Center, Hermiston. 7:23 - A wife in the Milton-Freewater area reported a female with blond hair, wearing a black sweatshirt, was on the property around 7 a.m. and asked for her husband, who was next to an apple shed. Then the woman left on North Winesap Road. 8:08 a.m. - A caller reported thieves in the night stole a pallet of shingles and siphoned fuel from two vehicles on the 600 block of North Russell Street, Milton-Freewater. 8:16 a.m. - Truckers hauling waste from the Riverpoint Farms onion plant on East Walls Road, Hermiston, were not covering loads with a tarp. A caller said the waste blows all over the road, and while the drivers “cleaned up their act for a while,” they returned to their litter-making ways. 8:28 a.m. - Pendleton police received a report of a suspicious male in the area of Grecian Heights Park, 1910 S.W. Athens Ave., Pendleton. A second caller at 8:52 a.m. reported an intoxicated person was in the area of the park. 10:55 a.m. - A man in Umatilla called police and said his friend just came over to his place after an ex-boyfriend beat her. 10:59 - A man reported the theft of binoculars from his vehicle on Stateline Road, Milton-Freewater, that are worth $2,800. 12:25 p.m. - The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Of¿ce received a report that four dogs could be without food or water at a home on South Edwards Road, Hermiston. 2:07 p.m. - A male pounded and kicked at a door at a home on Southwest Third Street, Pendleton, then broke one of the windows. 2:34 p.m. - The Morrow County Sheriff’s Of¿ce received a report a “very intoxicated” man was at the circuit court at the Morrow County Courthouse, Heppner, and left in a compact sport utility vehicle. Law enforcement did not ¿nd the man, 5:26 p.m. - A Heppner man reported he and his wife no longer feel safe due to the next door neighbors and asked the Morrow County Sheriff’s Of¿ce to roll extra patrols through the neighborhood and past the neighbor’s home “to calm some of the stuff down.” 6:47 p.m. - Law enforcement was on the lookout for an armed man after a report that he pulled a gun during a dispute. A caller reported the problem started when he passed a 1970s model Ford pickup with a Àatbed on Highway 730 between Irrigon and Umatilla, and the vehicle then followed him home. He and the other driver argued, the caller said, until that driver pulled a gun. The armed man was white and about 6’1’ to 6’2’ with dark hair and in a blue or black coat, according to the caller. Law enforcement was not able to ¿nd the suspect. 7:37 p.m. - A Pendleton ambulance took a woman to a hospital after she reported she was suffering a bad headache, was dizzy and had a tooth was coming out. 7:40 p.m. - A Pendleton woman called 9-1-1 for help after her 1-year-old son locked himself in a bedroom and she could not open the door. 21:44 p.m. - Someone knocked on the front door of a home on Northwest 35th Street, Pendleton, and then held a Àashlight to the peephole. The man in the house then checked but did not see anyone. Police did not ¿nd anyone suspicious in the area. ARRESTS, CITATIONS Milton-Freewater police arrested Manuel Alejandro Sanchez, 30, of 53696 Locust Road, Milton-Freewater, on a city court warrant, two Umatilla County felony warrants and for felony Àeeing from police, misdemeanor Àeeing from police, resisting arrest and two counts of recklessly endangering others. An off-duty Pendleton police of¿cer reported a disturbance between a man and woman on the grocery side of the parking lot at the Pendleton Wal-Mart Supercenter. The cop also reported the man could be drunk while driving a red Ford F-250 pickup. Police arrived and arrested Tony W. Mahaffey, 64, of 2918 N.E. Riverside Ave., Pendleton, for driving under the inÀuence of intoxicants. Pendleton police arrested Kenneth T. West, 25, of 1817 S.W. 43rd St., Pendleton, for duii. MILWAUKIE — Parkin- son’s disease is reportedly responsible for the death of long-time Pendleton physi- cian Dr. Dale Brandt in the Portland area last month. He was 83. Barbara Brandt, the inter- nist’s wife, said Brandt was diagnosed with Parkinson’s about 1995. He died of the neurological disorder Feb. 15 in Milwaukie in Clackamas County. The Brandts had moved from Pendleton to Milwaukie three years ago. we all enjoyed. He is survived by his wife of 59 years; son Bryan and his wife Kathy Jones of Helix; daughters Jeneal and her husband Jeff Harshman of Walla Walla, and LeAnna Jones of Pendleton; grand- children Keegan Jones and his wife Katie Jones of Pendleton, Coleden Duchek of Pendleton, Hillary and Lauren Anne Harshman of Walla Walla, and DeLaney and Rylee Duchek of Pendleton; great-granddaugh- ters Olivia and Hadley Jones of Pendleton; brother Merlin and his wife Vondelee Jones of South Jordan, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews. LaMar was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, LaVerla Bateman and Melva Powell. To a community that gave us acceptance and helped to make a life LaMar loved in Pendleton for 44 years, the family would like to extend an invitation to a gathering in appreciation of his life. Brandt practiced internal medicine in Pendleton — a combination of clinic work, his own practice and at Eastern Oregon Training Center for 41 years. After the Brandts moved to Pendleton in 1967, he joined other physicians at Pendleton Internal Medicine. Dale Brandt attended Lewis & Clark High School, Spokane, and the University of Idaho before enrolling at the University of Washington Medical School. He did his residency at Santa Clara Hospital, in San Jose, and was a Àight surgeon with the U.S. Army three years in Alaska before going to Pendleton. Dale and Barbara Brandt were married in 1958. They had two daughters and one son: Karen Gustafson of Puyallup, Wash., Susan Parsons in Ecuador, and David Brandt, Portland, and ¿ve grandchlldren. A memorial service was held in Portland Feb. 27. He was born August 14, 1928, in Magna, Utah, to Raymond R. Jones and Elsie Ella Wassmer Jones. He was raised and attended school in West Jordan, Utah. Farming was the passion of LaMar’s life. His love of farming was only equaled by his love of big equipment. He started on his ¿rst dryland wheat Jones farm when he was 16; together with his dad and brother, they farmed acreage in West Jordan, Utah. LaMar met Vicky Rutheena Parker in 1954 at the age of 26. After ¿nding the love of his life, the two were married on November 9, 1956, in Sandy, Utah. LaMar’s dream was to live in the middle of 1,000 acres, which came true in 1972 when he and Vicky purchased King Ranches in Pendleton. LaMar was a man who loved family, ¿shing, dancing, Mazz music, ¿nan- cial endeavors, and spending time at the Oregon coast. His family deeply admired LaMar for his character; he was honest, full of integrity, generous, and caring.
