REGION Tuesday, February 16, 2016 East Oregonian Senate tips hat to Happy Canyon East Oregonian The Oregon Senate heaped praise Monday on the Happy Canyon Indian Pageant and Wild West Show in honor of its 100th anniversary. Sen. Bill Hansell (R-Athena) introduced a resolution to congratulate the Pendleton mainstay on its centennial year, and prin- cesses Appollonia Saenz and Elena Van Pelt opened the day’s session by carrying the ÀDJVRQWRWKH6HQDWHÀRRU The resolution listed the show’s accomplishments, including being the longest running outdoor wild west show in the U.S., enlisting 500 people, 50 animals and a live orchestra in the produc- tion, and attracting visitors from around the world to Pendleton. In 2012 the event was QDPHG WKH VWDWH¶V RI¿FLDO outdoor Indian pageant and wild west show by a resolution carried by Sen. David Nelson (R-Pendleton).
