ARRESTS, CITATIONS Pendleton police arrested Donald Andrew Gould McGregor, 36, of 203 Morton Road, Oregon City, for second-degree burglary and third-degree theft. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in Umatilla County Circuit Court, Pendleton. Court records show the target was Hill Meat Company, Pendleton. Oregon State Police cited Benjamin Lee Otteson, 40, of Pendleton, for driving under the inÀuence of intoxicants and reckless driving following a crash of a Nissan Juke at about 8:54 p.m. at Airport Road and Clark Lane, Pendleton. BRIEFLY Umatilla County casts wide net to save on new vehicles PENDLETON — Umatilla County saved more than $1,000 seeking new bids for three vehicles, but the county went to the coast to do it. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Of¿ce at the end of 2015 looked to buy a new 2016 Ford F250 pickup for its marine patrol and two new 2016 Ford Fusions for the civil division, all to replace aging vehicles. The sheriff’s of¿ce had bids from a Gresham dealer, which holds the state contract for Àeet management. But the county board of commissioners directed the sheriff’s of¿ce to get bids from local auto dealers as well. The issue was back before the board Tuesday morning in Pendleton. Tom Denchel Ford Country, Hermiston, offered the super-duty pickup for $29,000, $9 more than the Gresham dealer. Board chairman George Murdock said the county opted to go with local business. The savings came from Power Ford, Newport, which provided a low bid of $17,668 each for the Fusions for a total of $35,336. That was $1,048 less than the Gresham dealer. Murdock said in each case the dealers have to deliver the vehicles. The funds come from the county’s vehicle replacement program. The board also approved the annual list of employees who can use a county-owned vehicle to commute for work. Sheriff Terry Rowan and other key members of law enforcement are on the list, along with public works employees.
