RECORDS Thursday, October 15, 2015 PUBLIC SAFETY LOG TUESDAY •An off-duty Oregon State Police trooper at about 12:35 a.m. heard a gunshot in the area of the Interstate 84 and Southeast Third Street interchange, Pendleton. A red pickup took off from the area right after the shot and parked next to the trooper’s UHVLGHQFH7KHWURRSHUFDOOHGIRUSROLFHDQGRI¿FHUVFRQWDFWHG a man who denied he shot a gun, but he was in possession of a ULÀHDQGVKRWJXQDQGKHZDVLQWR[LFDWHG3ROLFHWRRNWKHPDQ¶V guns for safekeeping. •A bicyclist wearing a skeleton Halloween mask followed a woman at about 4 a.m. as she drove from South Earl and East &RH$YHQXH6WDQ¿HOGWRWKH3LORW7UDYHO&HQWHU+LJKZD\ 6WDQ¿HOG6KHUHSRUWHGWKHPDQZDVKHDY\VHWZKLWHDQG rode a BMX-style bicycle by her vehicle while she was parked at a friend’s place, then he returned wearing the mask and followed her. She said she went into the Pilot so he would stop. •A Pendleton resident on Highway 11 at 7:43 a.m. reported she shot a skunk that had gotten into her chickens. •A Weston resident at 10:47 a.m. reported a burglary on South Board Street. •A woman at 12:07 p.m. reported another female attacked her on North Prescott Street, Echo, and they were both at the premises. •A female at 12:57 p.m. reported a woman attacked her aunt at a residence on West Spearman Road, Hermiston. •A man at about 1:45 p.m. reported he thought someone ZLWKDULÀHZDVVKRRWLQJDWKLPZKLOHKHZDVRQWKH&ROXPELD River just west of the Umatilla River. This is the latest report of vandals using a permanent marker to deface property in and around the city hall. Most of those reports came in Saturday. •Umatilla police at 2:55 p.m. received a report of malnour- ished puppies at a residence on Chinook Court. A caller said someone took some puppies to a veterinarian and left others at the residence. •A male at about 3 p.m. grabbed a female by her hair and appeared to hurt her while they walked on River Road toward Highway 730, Umatilla. A caller reported the assault but said she lost sight of them and did not give more information. •An employee of the Sinclair fuel station at 320 E. Main St., Lexington, called law enforcement at 3:44 p.m. to report she refused to sell alcohol to a woman who was intoxicated and the woman left, driving a small silver sports utility vehicle. •A horse at about 5:15 p.m. was trapped between two fences on Joy Lane, Hermiston. A caller asked for a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy to check on the animal because it was suffering cuts. •The caretaker for the Weston Cemetery at 6:08 p.m. reported someone broke in and stole a weed cutter and asked WKH8PDWLOOD&RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FHWRVHQGDGHSXW\WRWKH cemetery board meeting that was from 6:30-7:30 that night. •A long-haul semi driver at 8:31 p.m. asked police to send extra patrols to the Pilot Travel Center, 2115 Highway 395, 6WDQ¿HOG+HVDLGVRPHRQHKDVEHHQVWDONLQJKLPIRUPRUH than six months in every city he drives though, but he never sees the person. Instead, he reported, he hears them making threats while he tries to sleep. •A man at 8:59 p.m. reported he confronted his girlfriend’s father at a residence on Ginger Court, Umatilla, and the father slapped him and came at him with a hunting knife. The caller VDLGKHUDQWRKLVFDUDQGÀHGWR+HUPLVWRQDQGDVNHGIRUDQ RI¿FHUWRFDOOKLP •A Pendleton resident at 9:28 p.m. reported hearing three or four gun shots from a semi-auto pistol near the hill behind Southwest Frazer Avenue. Police investigated and found VRPHRQHVHWWLQJRII¿UHZRUNV •A woman at 9:49 p.m. told Pendleton police people at a house on Southeast 18th Street were having a loud party across from her home, and while she was sitting on her porch a male came out from the party, exposed himself to her and urinated. She also said she asked the partygoers to keep it down so her children could sleep, but they cursed at her and threatened her. Police showed up and warned people to cease making a racket. ARRESTS, CITATIONS •Hermiston police arrested Kyle Christopher Clark, 21, of Hermiston, for fourth-degree assault. Pettyjohn Echo February 2, 1962-October 12, 2015 Umatilla May 19, 1930-October 12, 2015 Rodney D. “Rod” Wohlcke was born on February 2, 1962, in Pendleton, Oregon, to parents Charles and Larene Southworth Wohlcke. He died on October 12, 2015, at his home outside of Echo, Oregon, at the age of 53 years. Rod was raised and attended schools in Pend- leton, Oregon. He had worked in farming, at Lamb Weston, Hill Meat, and as a carpenter where he could EXLOG DQG ¿[ anything. Rod and Rebecca Mavis Wohlcke have been together since May of 2001 and have lived outside of Echo, Oregon, since 2002. He enjoyed wood- working, playing the KDUPRQLFD KLV ¿VK aquarium, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Rod had a passion for motorcycles and always looked forward to the Fossil Biker Rally every year. She was born on June 5th, 1921, in Hanover, Kansas, to Mamie and George &XPPLQJV RQH RI ¿YH children. She spent most of her childhood in Moroville, Kansas, before migrating to Oregon with her family. She met her husband Irvin in Weston, Oregon, and was married to him in Lewiston, Idaho, on June 8th, 1940. She and Irvin settled in Weston. In retirement they traveled around the country with most IUHTXHQW WULSV WR 3DFL¿F &LW\ Oregon. They fell in love with 3DFL¿F &LW\ DQG OLYHG WKHUH as full-time motor homers for a number of years before moving to Hillsboro in 2006. Thelma loved children and was known to dozens in Weston as Auntie Thelma. She gave great hugs and would pass them out to anyone, even strangers, that needed one. She touched the lives of countless people and was the bright spot in the day for many of those she encoun- tered. Thelma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. Thelma is preceded in death by her mother and father, and her siblings Alvin, Glen, Ervin (Sherb), and Eileen. She is survived by her husband Irvin, son Gary (Darla) Meier of Duluth, Minnesota, daughter Sheri (Randy) Rahn of Hillsboro, Oregon, and grandchildren Fawn and Thaddeus Rahn.
