RECORDS Tuesday, August 18, 2015 East Oregonian OBITUARIES Angella Michelle (Brown) Lambert Hermiston December 2, 1960-July 28, 2015 Angella Michelle (Brown) Lambert of Hermiston, Oregon, was born December 2, 1960, in Portland, Oregon, to parents Phillip C. and Marianne Brown. She passed on July 28, 2015, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Washington, after a short battle with cancer at the age of 54. Angella was the second of three children and was raised in Hermiston and Umatilla, where she attended school, and ¿nally ending in Albany, Oregon, and gradu- ated at West Albany High School. After Lambert working in Albany for a short time, Angella met and married her husband at the age of 19 and had three children, Tom, Dana and Joe. She was lucky enough to have seen much of the world in her travels around the world with her young family. Angella eventually settled in Umatilla and raised her children there and was the owner/operator of the Rest- A-Bit Motel, where she was awarded twice the Business Woman of the Year award. She was very active in the community and strived to make Umatilla a better placed to raise a family. She was very involved in the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce and was their past president, secretary and treasurer, and sat on the board of directors for many years. Angella was also passionate about the schooling system and was on the board of the Umatilla County Preschool and on the Umatilla School District Budget Committee. After many years, Angella sold the Rest-A-Bit Motel and took a couple of years off to travel with her children. In 1998 Angella, along with her parents, purchased and managed the Desert River Inn Resort in Umatilla, which they managed until it was sold in 2013. She was active and very knowledgeable in the hospitality industry and very sought after for her expertise, and was recruited as the manager of the Best Western in Hermiston. She was a member of the Oregon Lodging Association, Oregon Restaurant Associ- ation, Hermiston Chamber of Commerce, Boardman Chamber of Commerce, Umatilla Transient Lodging Tax Committee, Lions Club International and Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center Building Committee. Angella’s greatest love was her children and spending time with them was important. She traveled to New Zealand whenever she could to spend time with her two eldest children who reside there. She had thousands of friends and acquaintances, but her closest friend was Pam Lincoln of Hermiston, Ore., as they met at 8 years old and continued to be there for each other throughout their lives and spent many hours together. Angella is survived by her children Thomas Lambert, Dana and Luc Ettema, all of Christchurch, New Zealand, and Joseph Lambert of Hermiston, Ore.; her parents Phillip C. and Marianne Brown of Hermiston; her siblings Mark and Jackie Brown of Nehalem, Ore., and Diana and John Woodward of Hermiston; her nieces and nephews Tammy and Nick Nearring of Hermiston, Jacob and Tiffany Brown of Nehalem, Ore., Mick Wood- ward and Janay Woodward, both of Hermiston, Ore., and many great-nieces and -nephews. Angella was preceded in death by her nephew that she adored, Ross W. Brown of Nehalem, Ore. A celebration of life will be held at the Desert River Inn on Saturday, August 22, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and everyone is invited to help us celebrate the life of this incredible woman. Angella’s wishes were to be cremated and her ashes shall be with her children in New Zealand. Briley, former Stanfield-Hermiston, Oregon, resident, was born on October 23, 1922, in Wilburton, Okla- homa, to parents David and Maybell Mathis Briley. He died on August 12, 2015, in Woodburn, Oregon, at the age of 92 years. Dave was raised and attended schools in Rose- burg, Oregon. He then attended UCLA for a time before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII until his honorable Briley discharge. David was united in marriage to Betty Jean McMahon on July 27, 1947, in Vancouver, Washington. They lived in Clackamas County, Oregon, and Dave worked as a construction foreman for many years. They moved to Stan¿eld, Oregon, in 1989 and then to Woodburn, Oregon, earlier this year where they have lived since. Dave was a member of the American Legion Post #37, Hermiston, Ore., and the VFW Post #1324, Oregon City, Ore. He enMoyed hunting, ¿shing and gardening. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Jean Briley, Woodburn, Ore.; children: Chester Wyatt, Heppner, Ore., Rebecca Stearns (Jim), Hermiston, Ore., Stephen Briley, Hermiston, Ore., John Briley, Eagle Creek, Ore., Mark Briley (Teri), Woodburn, Ore., and Barbara Emra (Keith), Donald, Ore.; brother Bill Briley, Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grand- children; two great-great-grand- children; and numerous nieces and nephews. She said a couple of nights ago Umatilla police were looking for three males who were breaking into vehicles. •A caller at 12:51 p.m. at Dave’s 12th Street Food Mart, Pendleton, reported a man at a gas pump punched a woman, then they left in a blue or silver Geo Metro, but the male got out and started walking toward Dorion Avenue. SATURDAY •A Pendleton woman at 12:40 a.m. reported someone broke into her garage on Southeast 18th Street and took HYHU\WKLQJ6KHDOVRLGHQWL¿HGD possible suspect. •A vandal sometime before 1 a.m. entered a car on Southwest 30th Street, Pendleton, and slashed all four tires. •A woman at 11:31 a.m. told Pendleton police she was the victim of rape. Pendleton turned the case over to the Umatilla &RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FHGXHWR where she reported the crime occurred. •Oregon State Police reported two Umatilla County men Saturday found out they FRXOGQRWSXUFKDVH¿UHDUPV after background checks ÀDJJHGWKHPIRUIHORQ\ convictions. 7KH¿UVWLQFLGHQWLQYROYHGD 29-year-old Milton-Freewater man who tried to buy a Ruger 9 mm pistol at about 3 p.m. at Ranch & Home, 85342 Highway 11. Milton-Freewater. The background check revealed he had multiple felony convictions. The man said he was a juvenile at the time of those convictions and operated under the notion his record would be clean once he turned 21. Oregon State Police told him how to call the state’s background check line to challenge the gun restriction. 7KHVHFRQGÀDJJLQJ happened at about 7:30 p.m. at the Pendleton Wal-Mart Supercenter, 2203 S.W. Court Ave., when a 36-year-old man tried to buy a shotgun for his children. The store denied him when the check revealed he had felonies. The man left before state police arrived. •A 9-1-1 caller at 4:07 p.m. on Cowboy Lane, Hermiston, reported someone planned to drive a vehicle into a Toyota Tundra. The caller refused to give his name, cursed at the dispatcher and disconnected the line. •A Hermiston-area woman on Northeast Sandy Lane at 5:50 p.m. reported the dog is back and killed two of her chickens. •A drunk woman at about 6:20 p.m. came to a house on Kunze Lane, Boardman, and verbally assaulted a woman living there, along with her lawn mower. Later, the victim reported she and the drunk woman settled their dispute. •A Pendleton-area man on Straughan Road at 8:12 p.m. reported a male approached him and said he was there to spray the land, but the man checked with the landlord who said call police. The male also asked questions about if anyone lived in the house. The caller said the male was 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighed about 140 pounds, was bald and wore a black tank top and black shorts. State police contacted the 0RUURZ&RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FH with a probable cause arrest warrant for Wilhelm after a vehicle crashed and rolled on Highway 207 near milepost 25. A sheriff’s deputy found Wilhelm and took him to state police. Sunday •Oregon State Police cited Leonard Earl Ackerman, 71, of Hermiston, for duii following a crash a little before 3 p.m. on Highway 395 and Bowdin Lane, Umatilla. •Pendleton police arrested Audra Marcell Reuban, 30, of Pendleton, for unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of methamphetamine. •Pendleton police arrested Zachary A. Myers, 18, of 1332 S.W. 40th St., Pendleton, for duii. •Oregon State Police reported troopers arrested a drunk driver who was under the age of 21 following a crash at about 9 p.m. on Highway 207 near milepost 4. State police reported the driver had a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent, above the state’s legal limit of 0.08 percent.
