Saiki will retain the dual role of DAS director and chief operating of¿cer for state government that Kitzhaber had assigned to Jordan. He is a graduate of Oregon State University. Saiki began at the Department of Human Services in 1986, when he became supervisor of the agency’s volunteer services. When he left at the end of 2009, Saiki had been the chief administrative of¿cer and deputy director for operations of what was then the largest agency in state government. Saiki has been deputy director for central services at ODOT since January 2010. He did a short stint in 2012 as the state’s interim human resources chief at DAS. Kate Brown’s choice to lead the Department of Adminis- trative Services, which over- sees budget and management of state government. Saiki has been a deputy director of the Oregon Department of Transporta- tion since January 2010 and was at the Department of Human Services for nearly 25 years before then.
