RECORDS Wednesday, July 29, 2015 Dorothy E. Beason Hermiston October 29, 1926-July 24, 2015 Dorothy E. Beason of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on October 29, 1926, in Ivy, Arkansas, to parents John and Annie Newton James. She died on July 24, 2015 in Hermiston, Oregon, at the age of 88 years. The second of six chil- dren, Dorothy was raised in Leola, Arkansas, and then in Boon- eville, Arkansas. America was in the middle of the Great Depression. Her father worked in construction on the WPA. Her mother was a homemaker. When Dorothy was 14, her parents moved most of Beason the family to the Okanogan Valley in Washington State to pick apples. Dorothy attended Okanagon High School in Okanogan, Washington. She married a timber faller, William John Stolz. After his Air Force service and WWII ended they lived in the Omak, Wash., area. They had three children, Gary, Cathy and Troy, when they moved to John Day, Oregon, for better logging work. Shortly, they settled in nearby Mount Vernon, where the children completed elementary and high school. Weekends were ¿lled with hunting, ¿shing, waterskiing, camping and picnics all made more delicious by Dorothy’s wonderful cooking. Following a divorce in 1967, Dorothy excepted an invitation to a blind date. Two months later she married that date, chef Duane Beason. They immediately moved to Pendleton, where they worked at the Tapadera Lounge. It was Dorothy’s ¿rst job with a paycheck. Several months later, they moved to Pilot Rock, Ore., where they managed the Roundup Room. They opened and operated Beason’s Pantry in downtown Pilot Rock until the mill closed. They moved back to Pendleton, Oregon, and she and Duane managed the Husky Truck Stop. They moved to Hermiston, Oregon, in 1969 and worked at McCabes Restaurant for a short time before opening the Chuckwagon Drive-in in 1970. When the building burned they relocated up the street to the current site of The Nickel. They kept the Chuckwagon name and fed locals and travelers for eight years. They bought a motorhome and traveled throughout the United States before returning to Hermiston and building Beason’s Chuckwagon Café in 1979. Dorothy operated the restau- rant until retiring in 2007. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she was active in Girls State, and was a member of the Mount Vernon PTA. Dorothy enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, cooking, ¿shing, hunting, supporting and encouraging her children. Dorothy spent the last six years in her “Happy Home” at Sun Terrace. She is survived by her children: Gary Stolz and wife Marilyn, Cathy Stolz, and Troy Stolz, all of Herm- iston, Ore.; sisters Evelyn Jaquish, Wenatchee, Wash., Marjorie Munsell-Forsythe, Hermiston, Ore., and Bonette Carey, White Rock, B.C.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Beason; her parents; brother Harold James; a sister, Catheline Hardin; and William J. Stolz. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Chris- tian Church, Hermiston, Ore. Gerald H. ‘Jerry’ Stiller Milton-Freewater Nov. 9, 1936-June 15, 2015 Gerald H. “Jerry” Stiller, 78, of Milton-Freewater died Monday, June 15, 2015, in Spokane. OBITUARIES Barbara Ann Clark Hermiston April 19, 1935-July 25, 2015 Barbara Ann Clark was born on April 19, 1935, in Decatur, Illinois, to parents Lawrence Dale and Mary Elizabeth Sutter Hamilton. She died on July 25, 2015, in Hermiston, Oregon, and rejoined her husband of nearly 60 years, at the age of 80 years. Barbara was raised in North Carolina, Florida and Illinois. Barbara was united in marriage to Louis L. Clark on June 10, 1955, in Decatur, Ill. She worked in various of¿ce positions including executive assistant to the hospital Clark administrator at Sisters of St. Francis. They lived in Illinois until 1987 when they moved to Hermiston, Oregon, to be near their family. Barbara was the of¿ce manager for her son-in-law, Thomas Farney, at his surgery prac- tice until retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, Elks Emblem Club, had served as president of the PTA in Illinois, and worked alongside and supported her husband Louis in his many Shrine activities. Barbara enjoyed playing pinochle, cooking, knitting, traveling, and entertaining family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Marianne Farney and husband Thomas, Hermiston, Ore., and Diane Mueggler and husband Scott, Kennewick, Wash.; son David Clark, Herm- iston, Ore.; four grandchildren: Daniel (Scarlet), Annamarie (Lewis), Barbi (Devin) and Caitlin (Beth); brother James D. Hamilton, Decatur, Ill.; and sisters Linda Krska and Bonnie Seger, both of Sun City, Fla. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Louis L. Clark on March 17, 2015, and by her parents. David Lee Fisher Stanfield May 29, 1956-July 24, 2015 David Lee Fisher was born May 29, 1956, in Medford, Ore., to David and Blanche (Van Auken) Fisher. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 24, 2015, at his home in Stan- ¿eld, Oregon, at the age of 59 years. He married Susan Kay Daniels on September 30, 1978. Mr. Fisher was a longtime resi- dent of Stan¿eld, Ore. Among his years of employ- ment he worked for the Union Fisher Paci¿c Railroad for 17 years as a brakeman conductor. David later worked at numerous other jobs, including Gotta Stop and CB’s Portable Service. David enjoyed ¿shing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Susan Fisher, and his ¿ve adult chil- dren Tabbitha Fisher, Tommy Fisher, Rita Waldo, Cindy Fisher and Connie Thurman, as well as nine grandchildren and another granddaughter due in October. Also surviving Mr. Fisher are his siblings Ronald Fisher, Sandra Tisdale, Debbie Higginbotham, Rita Rayner and Twylia Wickersham, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by his parents, David and Blanche Fisher, and his brother Marlin Fisher. A celebration gathering and potluck will be held on Saturday, August 1st at 4 p.m. at 1210 N.W. Stockton St. in Hermiston, Ore. Wilma Frances Porter Albany February 14, 1924-July 25, 2015 Wilma Porter, 91, of Albany died Saturday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. Born in Pendleton to Frank and Laura Ellen (Peterson) Ramey, Wilma graduated from Pendleton High School and lived in Pendleton until 1946. Wilma married Tom Porter on May 28th, 1942, in Pendleton. Together they lived in Portland from 1946 to 1987, and moved to Albany in 1987. Wilma enjoyed sewing, knitting and reading. Survivors include sons Randy and wife Lee of Albany, and Tom and wife Alleen of Albany; and grandchildren Cody, Cary and Tyler Porter, Justin Sabin, and Lyndie Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom in 2002; brothers Myron and Frank Ramey; and sisters Gwendolyn Ramey and Elna Temple. He was 85 years old. At his request, no services will be held. Disposition was by cremation. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton handled arrangements. James was born August 27, 1929, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Walter Enbysk and Mildred Hoover-Enbysk. He attended Rieth Grade School, Pendleton Junior High and Pendleton High School, graduating in 1947. He then worked for the state of Oregon, ¿rst as administra- tive assistant for the Oregon National Guard, and then as maintenance supervisor where he worked for 33 years, retiring in January of 1988. In 1948 Mr. Enbysk enlisted in the Oregon Army National Guard. He retired from the National Guard in July of 1981, as a lieutenant colonel with 33 years of service, and was transferred to the Retired Reserve. He married Alta Mae Dyer of Milton-Freewater, Oregon, on July 20, 1958. They had two children, Brent W. Enbysk and K’Lynn (Enbysk) Hackley. Mr. Enbysk resided in Pendleton during his careers, which required him to travel often. After his retirement he enjoyed many hobbies including hunting and ¿shing, especially steelhead ¿shing on the John Day and Deschutes rivers. He tied many of his Àies and made many spinners. He loved to take his granddaughters ¿shing. He enjoyed having a garden each year, as well as hunting mushrooms in the spring, and cutting wood in the summertime. In the winter he enjoyed bowling, dancing and playing cards. He was a member of the Umatilla County Historical Society. He loved researching his family genealogy, and had several articles published in the historical society’s publi- cation Pioneer Trails. He was a member of the Greasewood Finnish Heri- tage Society, a life member of the National Guard Association of the USA, and life member of BPOE #288, Pendleton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Enbysk and Mildred Hoover- Enbysk-Wright, his brother Gary W. Enbysk, and sister Irene A. Meredith. He is survived by his wife Alta of Pendleton, son Brent W. Enbysk (Darla) of Clackamas, Ore., daughter K’Lynn Hackley (Thomas) of Buckner, Mo., six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. William ‘Sherman’ Hill V (McNabb) Irrigon March 4, 1950-July 23, 2015 William “Sherman” Hill V (McNabb) of Irrigon, Oregon, was born on March 4, 1950, in Superior, Nebraska, to parents William Sherman Hill and Laura Lou Barker Hill. He died on July 23, 2015, near Starbuck, Washington, as the result of a motor- cycle accident at the age of 65 years. Sherman was raised by his Mom and Dad, Laura and Herbert McNabb. He attended school in Umatilla, Oregon, graduating from Umatilla High School in the class of 1969. He then served in the United States Hill Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan. After his honorable discharge he returned to Umatilla. Sherman was united in marriage to Marcia Caster on June 5, 1976, in Pocatello, Idaho. They lived in Umatilla and later in Irrigon, Oregon. Sherman worked for Agrinorthwest in manage- ment until retiring in 2012. He enjoyed riding his motor- cycle, time with his grand- children, snowboarding, gol¿ng, traveling, going to the beach, and riding bikes with his grandchildren. Sherman enjoyed and received great satisfaction out of helping others. He was a member of the Hermiston Elks Lodge 1845, the Harley Owners Group, and the Irrigon Moose Lodge. He is survived by his sons David Blair and wife Brandy, Umatilla, Ore., and Jayare Hill and wife Arielle, Irrigon, Ore.; daughter Sherri Pierce and husband David, Benton City, Wash.; brothers Scott Gillette, Hermiston, Ore., William Gillette, Hood River, Ore., and Scott McNabb, Eugene, Ore.; sisters Toni “ We wish you a Great Summer! ” D r.
