Anteau Ernest ‘Ernie’ Rostock Hermiston November 23, 1971-July 24, 2015 Pendleton February 1, 1920-July 26, 2015 Longtime Pendleton resi- dent Ernest “Ernie” Rostock, 95, passed away at Suttle Care facility in Pendleton on Sunday, July 26th. Ernie was born in La Grande, Oregon, Feb. 1, 1920, to parents Jacob and Ethel Rostock. He grew up in La Grande with brothers Glen and Edward and sister Helen. A 1938 graduate of La Grande High School, he was an outstanding college basketball player at Eastern Oregon State College where Rostock he poured in 1,688 career points in four years of competition. Although he played at the small college level, his scoring record was established playing against most of the top schools in the Northwest. Rostock’s scoring mark was a milestone in that it eclipsed the mark set the year before by the great Hank Lusetti of Stanford. Rostock was on the all-con- ference team both his junior and senior years and led the conference in scoring. In KHZDVWKH¿UVWDWKOHWH from his college to be chosen for induction into NAIA Division II Hall of Fame. In 1988 he was inducted into the Eastern Oregon State College Hall of Fame. Ernie is one of only three men to play, coach and referee in the state triple A basketball tournament. Anteau of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on November 23, 1971, in Dearborn, Michigan, to parents David and Lynda Segraves Anteau. He died on July 24, 2015, in Pendleton, Oregon, as the result of a motor- cycle accident at the age of 43 years. Jason was raised and attended schools in Eastern Oregon with his family settling in Irrigon, Oregon, Anteau in 1985. Jason worked for Marlette Homes in Hermiston, Oregon. He ODWHU ZDV D ZLOGODQG ¿UH- ¿JKWHU IRU $ &RQVWUXFWLRQ & Fire and a partner with Columbia River Builders for 10 years. Jason went to work for the Oregon Depart- ment of Transportation in Hermiston, Oregon, in 2010 and transferred to Heppner, Oregon, in 2013 where he was currently an area coor- dinator. Jason was united in marriage to Angela Stewart on February 21, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and made their home in Hermiston, Oregon. He was a Hermiston YROXQWHHU¿UHPDQ(07DQG on the Oregon State HazMat Team. Jason was the vice president of the East Desert Diamondbacks chapter of the Iron Order motorcycle club. He enjoyed hunting, ¿VKLQJ FRRNLQJ ULGLQJ KLV Harley, working on vehi- cles, rodeoing, camping, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife Angie Anteau, Hermiston, Ore.; son Trenten Anteau, Hermiston, Ore.; daughter Alex Anteau, Hermiston, Ore.; parents Dave and Lynda Anteau, Irrigon, Ore.; sister Kristen Anteau, Hermiston, Ore.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other members of his family. Jason was preceded in death by his brother, David Anteau II, his grandparents Buster and Arline Segraves, and his lifelong best friend Brian Brown. Ernie received his Masters of Education in 1951 from the University of Oregon. He served as principal at John Murray Junior High from 1959 until his retirement in 1980. Ernie’s life was centered on his family and his community. He spent 34 years in the Pendleton educa- tion system and impacted the lives of many students. Ernie served his community in many organizations over the 69 years he lived in Pendleton: county president of United Good Neighbors, member of the United Methodist Church for 60 years, Kiwanis Club, Pendleton Frontier collectors club, County Mental Health Division Board and Eastern Oregon Alcoholism Foun- dation are just a few of the many organizations that he was involved with. After his retirement in 1980 Ernie and Carol began a second career when they opened an antique store in Pendleton called “My Wife’s Antiques.” Ernie was an avid collector all his life so the store provided a perfect opportunity for the two of them working together doing something they enjoyed. Ernie was always a very competitive person and strived to excel in all areas of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ernie is survived by his children Mark Rostock, Key Largo, Florida, Julie (Greg) Hart, Connell, Washington, and Jill (Cliff) Banister of Pendleton; and grandsons Eric (Chafen) Hart, Dallas, Texas, and Brian (Kelli) Hart of Seattle, Washington. Ernie was blessed with ¿YH JUHDWJUDQGFKLOGUHQ Allie, Hal, Lucy, Dottie and Andrew. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Helen (Wallace) Allen, Edward Rostock and Glenn (Marge) Rostock, and grand- daughter Emily Louise Hart. The family is grateful for the kind and supportive care that was given to Ernie during his years at McKay Creek Estates and Suttle Care. August 15, 1948-July 21, 2015 Gwendolyn “Terrie” Theresa Hesler lost her coura- geous battle on Tuesday, July 21st, 2015, with her loving family by her side. Terrie was born August 15, 1948, in Pendleton, Oregon, to Frank and Clara Walker. Terrie lived the majority of her life in Tri-Cities, Washington. She graduated from Kennewick High School and later got her degree from Modern Hesler Business College. On November 18, 1967, she married Duane Hollan and had three daughters to whom she devoted her life. On February 14, 1987, she married her true love, Dennis Hesler, with whom she built a wonderful life. Terrie began working for the Kennewick School District in 2003 where she made lifelong friends. Terrie was loved by many and has touched many lives. She is known for her great advice and amazing support. Besides her family, her greatest passion was going to her favorite beach and rock hunting with her sisters. Terrie is survived by her husband Dennis L. Hesler; daughters Nicole Wode- house, Lori Pope (Jarrett) and Wendi Dorchak (Rob), all of Kennewick; son Larry Hesler (Dawn) of Bonney Lake, Wash.; stepdaughter Tammy Miller (Brandon) of St. Alvina Fay Padberg Ione January 15, 1921-June 3, 2015 Longtime Ione resident Alvina Fay Padberg, 94, peacefully passed June 3, 2015 at Willow Creek Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Heppner with family at her side. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Port of Morrow building in Boardman with a luncheon to follow. She was born January 15, 1921, in the Heppner Padberg area, the daughter of Alvin (Alvy) and Prudy Holcomb Casebeer. Alvina grew up in the Sandhollow area with her older brother Marvin and older sister Gladys. She spent a lot of time on her favorite horse watching over the family livestock. After going to work for the Padberg family at the Rhea Creek farm, Alvina meet Darrell Padberg. On March 24, 1940, she married Darrell, the love of her life. From that marriage two children were born, daughter Leann and son Marvin. As a young farmer’s wife, Alvina did her part on the farm by driving wheat truck during the harvest seasons. Alvina had many hobbies throughout her life. She was an avid seamstress, not only for herself but offering her talents to many of her friends. Later she used her artistic talents to produce many ceramic pieces, which can be seen in the many collectibles at her home in Ione. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 61 years; brother Marvin and his wife Ruth Ann Casebeer; sister Gladys and her husband Archie Hill; brother-in-law Paul Breeding; and son-in-law Jerald Rea.
