October 31, 1927-June 18, 2015 Pendleton May 6, 1935-July 1, 2015 Pendleton March 18, 1991-July 2, 2015 Evadene Sullivan passed away at the Beatitudes Nursing )acility in Phoenix, Ariz., on June 18, 2015. She was 87 years old. Evadene was born on October 31, 1927, at the home of her grandparents, Robert and Mary English, in Pendleton, Oregon. Evadene went to school at Hawthorne in Pendleton, elemen- tary in Helix, and graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon. After graduation she attended Eastern Oregon College. Sullivan She later worked for the Temple Hotel in Pendleton as an elevator operator. She met her future husband, Dalton Sullivan, while they were employed at the Temple Hotel. They were married December 27, 1950, in :alla :alla, :ash. They later divorced in 1970. After her family was raised she went to work for the Blue Mountain Activity Center. In 1980 she and her son, John Eugene Sullivan, moved to Phoenix, Ariz. She was employed by Goodwill Industries until her retire- ment. She was actively involved in MDA activities. She attended :estminster Presbyterian Church and was involved in many church activities including bingo and dominoes. Her greatest passion was her music and her ability to play piano and other instruments by ear. She loved to sing along with her church group. She loved traveling adventures, having gone three times to Hawaii with her daughter and family. She enjoyed spending time in the Blue Mountains and camping. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillian Rose, her sister Lelamae Blevins and a grandson, Corey Lantz. She is survived by her children Carolyn Pedersen of College Place, :ash., Nevell DeMaio of College Place, :ash., and John Eugene Sullivan of Phoenix, Ariz.; her grandchildren Brian Pedersen, Brooke Johnson, Bridget Kiefaber and Erik Lantz; and great-grandchildren Lauren and Jenna Johnson and Silas Kiefaber. Services were held in Phoenix, Ariz., at :estmin- ster Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Aug. 30, 1927-July 5, 2015 Evelyn (:aterman Reece, 87, of Napa, Calif., died Sunday, July 5, 2015, in American Canyon, Calif. She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Stan¿eld. Services are pending. Vacaville Hill Chapel in Vacaville, Calif., is handling arrangements. Lenard was born in )ort Stockton, Texas, May 6, 1935. He was the son of Blake and Angie Shupe. He died at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, :ashington, July 1, 2015, at the age of 80. Lenard lived his early childhood in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. He then moved to California as a teen- ager. He attended Corcoran High School in Corcoran, California. He enjoyed playing football, working in metal/shop classes Shupe and high school rodeo. At the age of 17 he served in the U.S. Army. He Àew helicopter and worked on building commu- nication towers during the Korean ConÀict. He served from 1952 to 1954. Lenard married Patricia May on August 3, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His family resided in :oodland, California, until 1979 when they moved to Pendleton, Oregon. He had one son with Patricia, Jim Shupe. He also had one son from a previous marriage, Rick Shupe. Lenard worked as a skilled welder and metal fabricator. He built and repaired truck trailers. He also did mechanical work on truck engines. )rom 1992-1999 he was a general contractor. He developed properties with homes in the Pendleton and Hermiston area. He enjoyed building wrought iron furniture. He loved to build things out of wood for his home, as well as for his friends and family. :hen his son was growing up, he enjoyed coaching Little League and Babe Ruth baseball. He liked to go hunting, camping and ¿shing. He was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family for any type of needs that ranged from plumbing to electrical or building things. He loved reading Louis L’Amour books. He was proud of his family and relished time spent with his church family. He has one grandchild whom he had a very special relationship with, his grandson Loren Shupe, a.k.a. “Spud.” And an “adopted” by love granddaughter, Kim Miller. Lenard was preceded in death by parents Blake and Angie Shupe, four sisters and one brother, and his son Rick Shupe. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Pat Shupe; son Jim and daugh- ter-in-law Deanna Shupe and grandson Loren Shupe; and a special nephew, Bruce Shupe, along with two other nephews, Blake and Dan and one niece, Vikki, all from California. Memorial service will be held )riday July 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pendleton )ree Methodist Church. This was unexpected, and the cause of death is unknown at this time. Ashlee/Ash/Ashabelle/ Nacho/Hoagie/Brite Eyes was born to Michael M. Hodgen and Cari A. Volger in 1991. Mike Hodgen and Ashlee not only share a father- daughter bond that is unparalleled, they share the same birthday: March 18th. Ashlee attended grade school and a portion of middle Hodgen school in Pend- leton. During her junior high and high school years, Ashlee resided in Echo. Brite Eyes graduated from Echo High School in 2009. After graduating, Ashlee moved to Pendleton to live with her best buddy/ Dad: Mike Hodgen. Mike and Ashlee spent their spring and summer days at the ballpark.
