SPORTS Wednesday, June 24, 2015 IRRIGON East Oregonian Page 3B Track & Field Irrigon to host Little League All-Star tournaments East Oregonian The Little League All-Star season begins this weekend for local players as the District 3 tournament opens in Irrigon. Teams from Hermiston, Pendleton and surrounding communities will compete in four age groups with games beginning on Saturday and running through Friday, July 3, if necessary. First pitch will belong to the youngest players as Hermiston faces Milton-Freewater at 8 a.m. on Saturday in the 9-10-year- olds bracket. La Grande and Pendleton follow, and the championship of this double elimination bracket is scheduled for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The 10-11 bracket and 11-12 brackets also open on Saturday. Hermiston and Columbia will play best-of-three for the 10-11 title, with it’s championship set for Sunday at 1 p.m. A third game on Monday will be played if needed. Milton-Freewater and La Grande have the top seeds in the 11-12 bracket, which also includes Baker, Hermiston, Pilot Rock and Pendleton.
