January 25, 1930-June 10, 2015 Hermiston March 31, 1923-June 11, 2015 •A teen skateboarder at about 8 a.m. hit a black Dodge Dakota at Southwest 15th Street and Isaac Avenue, Pendleton. The driver reported there did not seem to be any damage, and she gave the boy a ride to Pendleton High School. •A motorcyclist ended up in a hospital after a crash. The wreck happened at about 10:40 a.m. on Custforth Corner on Highway 207 near Lexington. Multiple emergency agencies responded. A Heppner ambulance took the driver to Pioneer Medical Center, Heppner, which then sent him in an emer- JHQF\ÀLJKWWRDQRWKHUKRVSLWDO •A Pendleton resident at 2:15 p.m. reported her mother threatened her with having her brother beat her. She said this stems from a report she made last week to police about a neighbor selling pills at Pendleton Square Apartments 300 S.W. 28th Drive. •Two juveniles at about 3:15 p.m. on the Umatilla River below the 1900 block of Northwest Carden Avenue tried to use D¿VKLQJQHWWRFDWFKDSHOLFDQ$FDOOHUH[SUHVVHGFRQFHUQ about the safety of the youth and the pelican. The youths were interns from Blue Mountain Wildlife, who took the injured bird to Pendleton Veterinary Clinic. The pelican had a badly broken wing, and the bird was humanely euthanized. •A Umatilla caller at 6:38 p.m. told police a medium size, white and brown dog runs around Cherry Street teasing all the other dogs. The caller also said the problem canine nipped his friend a while back. •A woman at 7:41 p.m. reported a recent break-in at cabins she manages on the 61300 block of Mill Creek Road, Milton- Freewater. Someone broke a window at one cabin and tore apart books in another. •Pendleton police at 8:26 p.m. received a report that an older white man was trying to break into cars at Dave’s 12th Street Food Mart, and a caller at 8:35 p.m. reported a male stole property from her car about 20 minutes before at Bare Bones, 1304 S.W. The caller hung up before dispatchers could gather more information. •A person at about 2:35 a.m. got out of a silver vehicle at the Shell station at 335 S.E. The caller said this happened sometime in the last eight months. •A Pendleton resident on Southeast Third Street FRPSODLQHGDERXW¿QGLQJV\ULQJHVRQKHUSURSHUW\SRVVLEO\ from a neighbor who uses her driveway. 7KH8PDWLOOD&RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FHDWSPUHFHLYHG a report of approximately 20 gunshots at Highway 332 and Triangle Station Road, Milton-Freewater. •A caller at 8:37 p.m. reported two men fought in and out of an apartment on West Madrona Avenue, Hermiston. •A woman at 8:56 p.m. told Pendleton police she and her boyfriend argued Friday and he made a sexual comment about her 4-year-old daughter. SUNDAY •A Milton-Freewater woman at 9:40 a.m. asked the Umatilla &RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FHIRUDGYLFHRQKRZWRVWRSDPDQIURP sending her father harassing text messages. •A caller at 9:54 a.m. reported the theft of a 2001 red Hyundai from Southeast Utah Avenue, Irrigon. •A Pendleton woman at 1:13 p.m. reported someone has been trespassing on her property and leaving dead rodents in her yard. •A mother in Irrigon at 3:59 p.m. reported a male is putting his hands on her daughter and threatened the family. The mother said the male lived with them but she wanted him out. Morrow County sheriff’s deputies waited for the male to return to remove his belongings, and deputies warned him because of the differences in his and his girlfriend’s ages. •A Pendleton man at 4:44 p.m. told police he and his girlfriend broke up, and she wants to take plants from the garden they planted and in fact she pulled out some already. The man left while a person was calling for the Morrow County Sheriff’s 2I¿FH 7KH0RUURZ&RXQW\6KHULII¶V2I¿FHDWSPUHFHLYHG a call about possible child neglect and abuse at a residence in Irrigon. •A Weston man at 10:35 p.m. reported a man came to his residence, threatened to kill him and leave the body in the mountains. Helen M. Jobes peace- fully passed away on June 10, 2015, at Hospice House at the Chaplaincy in Kenne- wick, Washington, at the age of 85. She was born in Amer- ican Falls, Idaho, to Joseph and Mary Kucera, the youngest of 10 children. Helen graduated from American Falls High School and moved to Pend- leton, Ore., where she met her future husband and love of her life, Dennis Jobes. They later moved to Pilot Rock where they Jobes owned and oper- ated the Pilot Rock Grocery. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage until Dennis passed away in 2006. Over the years Helen and Dennis could be seen at sporting events and activities supporting their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen was an active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Pilot Rock where she was involved with the Altar Society. In recent years she joined the Schoenstatt Movement through the Catholic Church, which brought her spiritual renewal and many close friends. In the past two years she was a member of St. Andrew’s Mission Church. Helen always had a passion for gardening and had one of the most beau- tiful yards in Pilot Rock. For her efforts, she had earned the Pilot Rock “Yard of the Month Award.” She also took great pride in her town and its youth and was named the Pilot Rock Citizen of the Year for her efforts in city EHDXWL¿FDWLRQ DQG FOHDQXS with help from local middle and high school students.
