The sheep’s owner called for a Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy to respond to the VFHQH7KHVKHULII¶VRI¿FHGHWHUPLQHGWKLVZDVDFLYLOPDWWHU 8PDWLOOD¶VFRGHHQIRUFHPHQWRI¿FHUDWDPFKHFNHG into the illegal dumping of potatoes in the driveway on Cedar &RXUWDQGDWDPWKHRI¿FHUUHVSRQGHGWR6ORDQ$YHQXH and Eighth Street on a report of illegal dumping there. •Staff at Irrigon Junior-Senior High School at 1:26 p.m. called to talk to a Morrow County sheriff’s deputy regarding a student harassing another student via text and Facebook messages. •The owner of a backhoe at 1:29 p.m. reported the theft of the machine’s bucket from Sunshine Lane and West Punkin Center Road, Hermiston. •A cougar may have made its way into Heppner. A caller at 1:42 p.m. said he spotted the big cat in the city by the mortuary at about 2 a.m. •A caller at 2:13 p.m. told Pendleton police six juveniles were hanging around the rear side of the bathrooms at Roy Raley Park, and there was damage done to one of the lights. •A Pendleton resident at 3:18 p.m. reported a dog attacked his dog. The caller said they do not look well fed or watered and said another neighbor commented they appear to have trouble urinating due to their condition. •An argument over a dog between two Umatilla neighbors on Eighth Street almost got out of hand. A deputy contacted the male, who said he would not harm himself, he just did not word his message very well. •Pendleton police at 9:27 p.m. received a report of a domestic disturbance between a man and woman on Southwest 14th Street. A caller reported they yelled at each other and the man carried a night stick and swung it around. He also seemed high, the caller said, and kept falling on railroad tracks in the roadway. Sharon (Shari) Marie Melton died May 15, 2015, in Portland, Oregon, at age 80 after a lengthy illness. A private burial was held on May 19th at Skyview Memorial Park in Pendleton. For the past two and a half years she resided at Providence Elder- place Glendoveer Assisted Living in Portland. She was happy to be able to enjoy her indepen- dence. She was born on October 5, 1934, Melton in La Grande, Oregon. Her father was Don Cole and her mother was Virginia (Smith) Cole, who are deceased and residing at Skyview Memorial Park. Sharon graduated from Pendleton High School in 1953. She married Harold Melton on May 14, 1963, in Hermiston, Oregon. Sharon worked as a telephone operator, night matron for Umatilla County Sheriff’s 2I¿FHDQGDYDULHW\RISRVL- tions at Pendleton Lanes. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Steinnerd and spouse Steve, Perryville, Missouri, and Brenda Melton and spouse Dan, Portland, Oregon; her son Ron Norris and spouse Karen, Boise, Idaho; her grandchildren Tracy Bullard, Nate Lemkau, Travis Lemkau, Joe Stein- nerd, Ben Steinnerd and Jackie Couraud; and eight great-grandchildren.
