Whitney, has been honored by the nine-county Area Five of the Oregon Juvenile Council for her outstanding work with youngsters. The award was presented here recently, on a vote of the 77 persons attending a day-long spring conference of the Northeast Oregon area. Mrs Whitney, a housewife, is a member of the Umatilla County juvenile advisory council. 25 Years Ago From the East Oregonian May 4-5, 1990 Three Oregon women, including Mary McKinstry of Pendleton, plan to walk 93 miles across Umatilla County in four days WR SURPRWH ¿WQHVV +RSLQJ WR ZDON DERXW 25 miles a day, the trio will begin Saturday morning from the Dale Ranger Station. Their trek will take them through Pilot Rock, Pend- leton and then over the Holdman Route to the Columbia River — the northern boundary of Umatilla County. McKinstry, who walks up to 10 miles a day — three miles in the morning, four during her lunch hour, and three more at night —is seeking sponsors for her walk.
