After her son returned from D¿HOGWULSWRWKHPLVVLRQIXOORI stories, author Terrie Biggs was so intrigued she subsequently VSHQW\HDUVUHVHDUFKLQJWKH VWRULHVRI:KLWPDQ0LVVLRQ IURPVHYHUDOSHUVSHFWLYHVZLWK the intent of telling the whole story: the native inhabitants of WKH&ROXPELD%DVLQWKHFRPLQJ RIZKLWHVWRWKH2UHJRQWHUULWRU\ the arrival of missionaries; and WKHFXOWXUHFODVKWKDWXOWLPDWHO\ led to the deaths of the Whitmans and others.
